CRM 2011 - Smart Matching (E-mail System Settings)

Hi,
I was wondering about following setting inside System Settings, Tab E-mail, Section "Configure E-mail correlation"
The line "Minimum numbers of recipients required to match" is set to 2 by default. Does this really mean that you have to have at least two recipients to make Smart Match working for replies on tracked emails? A lot of emails have only one recipient - does this mean Smart Match wouldn't work for all of them? My questions might sound a bit silly but I was just wondering why the default is set to 2 and if I misunderstood anything.
Thanks

From my point of view it is set to 2 cause a CRM User is a recipient too. So a CRM User with email address X and a customer (lead, account, contact) with email address Y have to exist
