I am getting the following error when clicking on most of the folders in the Outlook client:

"An error has occurred in the script on this page"

    Line: 75

    Char: 1

    Error: Syntax error

I have installed the Outlook Client SP2 but the error persists. I have all appropriate URLs in trusted sites.

I am using Windows 7 and Office 2010.

You have a javascript error I am guessing on an onload of a form somewhere.  If you turn on script debugging in IE you can probably debug it or see where the problem is.  Here is an article on debugging CRM jscript.

It's not a javascript error. It happens when opening the Dashboard folder. Or even the generic Sales folder.

This is not a customised CRM org.

Strange, it looks like a jscript error, I have never seen this before where someone is sure it's not jscript.  I would turn the debugging on in IE and recreate the problem anyways to see if it catches anything that can be debugged.  I think CRM for outlook uses IE behind the scenes.

This is very strange, this just looks like a jscript error.

    I should probably explain further.

This is clearly a "JScript error". The error window says so.

But I have not customised CRM Online. I have not added a JScript web resource. I am not calling any functions within a form.

As I mentioned, if I navigate to the "Dashboards" area I get an error. If I click on the "Marketing" folder on Outlook I get the same error.

     Proposed Answer

I guess I have two thoughts then.

    1. turn off jscript debugging in IE and see if they go away.  Some sites just have jscript errors by nature.

    2. Call Microsoft Online support for further assistance.  Something seems out of the ordinary here.

I am hearing some murmurs out there of outlook errors being reported post update rollup 2 (just released).

I am wondering if they applyed the rollup fixes to online and the errors are also showing up in the online environments.

    Again, I would call Microsoft.

Running into the same problem with a client of ours.  Syntax errors or CRM error box on about every folder when viewed via outlook.  Guess we're calling MS, haha.

The problem is resolved It appears that the rollup 2 updates applied to CRM Online are breaking the Outlook client if the Rollup 2 is not also applied to the outlook client.

MSFT is telling people to install Rollup 2 on the Outlook client as the solution.

It is not fixed by applying Rollup 2.

Microsoft are aware of the bug. A fix will be released in the next 2 weeks.

    Hi,

    1) I've now subscribed to this thread's RSS feed. How can I be notified about the upcomming fix ? I'll obviousely need to install it a.s.a.p.

    2) What should I instruct my users to do in the meantime? Or is there a way to "snooze" this pop-up ?

    Thanks.

I was on Rollup 1 when the problem began. No new software was introduced on the client side.

I tried uninstalling RollUp1. The problem continued.
I then tried installing RollUp2. The problem continued

This is a big problem, as it renders the Outlook client useless, and no way to go back to a working environment!!!

    Running on 32-bit Windows 7, 32-bit Office 2010, 32-bit CRM 2011

The problem exists on my system too when connecting my outlook to an online environment. When connecting to an on premise deployment it works ok. Have tried using both rollup 1 and 2. System = 64 bit win7, 32 bit outlook 2010/crm2011

No, MS seems to have fixed this issue centrally.

After Saturday the issue "solved itself" :-)

    Hello

Is there any workaround? For example: install rollup 2 on server and only rollup 1 on client?

    Thanks

Edit: outlook script error is resolved for me by applying the revision 2 of rollup update 2 for CRM server. I didn't know this revision 2 until today. And you may have to reset the outlook navigation pane settings (outlook /resetnavpane) on the client.

Have you guys tried installing rollup 2 on your client to see if it helps.

Also, to confirm the issue is the same please post yoru scripts.

Post-fix I would also maybe try re-configuring the client to see if helps also.

@ptrdvrs what update rollup have you applied to the Outlook client?

If you go to File > CRM > About Microsoft Dynamics CRM you will see two version numbers. First is for the database (ie CRM online), second is for your Outlook client. What version number does it show? (should be something like 5.0.9690.xxxx)

Hope this helps. Adam Vero, MCT

same version numbers here, same problems

CRM inside outlook is unusable (continual script errors) , works fine in IE. approx 17 users all with the same problem, it seemed to start about a month ago when the system was taken down for maintenence by microsoft (informed by a yellow bar at the top of the screen). presumably they pushed an update out then?

I have found a workaround for my installation
    went to registry key HK_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\MSCRMClient\{XXXXXXXXXXXXXX}\webappurl
updated information to use extranet address https://orgname.domain.com/......... (leave the rest of the address intact) instead of https://servername.domain.com/

    just thought i would share.
