    I am not able to install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Online Outlook Client. I continue to get the following error message, "The installation has failed. You cannot use a version of Internet Explorer that is earlier than Internet Explorer 7."

    I actually have Internet Explorer 9 installed.

    Can you please reboot your machine and try runnning setup again?

    If the error still persists then can you go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer and send the value of 'Version'. Also please attach the new log file with it.

    This is an XP client?

    64 bit?

    I would say, the code base of the OS being used is a bit old.

    and putting IE9 on it I would expect problems.

    I also have a 64bit machine. I downgraded from IE9 to IE 8 thinking it might be an IE 9 issue. The value in the data column is 8.0.6001.19088. I still am unable to install the client.

    I have a 64bit machine running Windows Vista Home. I also tried it on a 32bit machine running Vista Ultimate. Same result on each machine.

    Can you please attach the log file too?

    What is ther version number from Registry for 32 bit machine?

    Hi Majcram

    Can you reboot the machine and rerun the setup?

    If it didn't work, can you check the registry key value at

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version

    and the version of the file [drive]:\Windows\System32\jscript.dll

    Has anyone found a solution to this? I have win 7 64 bit machine, outlook 2010, IE 8 and receive same error as above. Reg settings all show correct IE version from what i can tell. Log file included.

    Hi all

     

    I found the solutions for this, or at least it worked in my case.

    I navigated on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer and opened the Version file, copied the value in it and then opened the Default file which was empty on the same path. Pasted the copied value and then try to run the installer again.

    Could you please explain your fix a little better?  What is the full path to the 'Default file' entry?  I have both of these entries currently:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version = 9.0.8112.16421

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version = 9.0.8112.16421

    Actually I got the same problem. For testing I downloaded the Windows XP Virtual PC from Microsoft. I have installed IE8, Office 2010 and .NET 3.5 SP1 additionally. Also in the registry, the IE version is 8.0.6001.18702. Probably in another location there are some IE6 residues.

    When installing the CRM2011 Outlook Client, I got the following error as indicated below.

    For "You cannot use a version of Internet Explorer that is earlier than Internet Explorer 7." you should try resetting and clearing temporary files of IE9 (by clicking the Reset button in the Advanced tab of Internet Options) then restarting the computer, which worked for me.

    This issue may be caused by Windows Updates that are pending installation and/or a cache memory issue.
