    Hi,

    I tried installing MS CRM 3.0 laptop client. I get the following error

    Microsoft SQL server desktop engine installation failed.

     

    Can anyone help me on this?

    Do you have any other instances of the SQL desktop engine installed on the machine?

    Are you using the V3C version of the client installation?

    Any error messages in the event log on the laptop?

    Hi,

    Yes, there is one more instance of MSDE

    No error messages in the event log

    I dont know what is V3C version

    A second named instance of MSDE should not interfere with the CRM instance. Do you have any more details about the failure? Can you provide install logs?

    V3C is a compatibility update for Microsoft CRM (includes compatibility with Vista and Outlook 2007).

    Hi,

     

    Initially i installed the CRM setup from network.Then I tried installing MSDE separately.I got the error 'instance name invalid'.So I copied the setup to my local machine and then tried installing the MSDE setup from my machine.It works fine.
