    I'm looking at installing the off-line outlook client so that it uses an existing SQL Express instance on the client machine. Is this possible?

    Yes it is, you just select the option to use a current SQL instance, however i don't recommed installing the offline client. You really need to know what you're doing with synchronization. It's just too much of a hassle.

    Where do you get the option to choose the sql instance? I haven't seen it when I ran the installer.

    Neither do I recall the option to choose an instance.

     

    Why do you care that it installs another instance?
