CRM Outlook Auto Update "Not Installed"

Implementing AutoUpdate of CRM Outlook Client worked fine.
The only issue I have here is on a Vista 64-bit machine, as soon as Outlook is restarted, the auto-update window re-appears saying that the patch is not installed. When I look at the software updates in control panel, I see Update Rollup 7 is listed.

The reg key used for my 64-bit machine is HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MSCRMClient.

What am i missing?

CRM4.0 reports do not work on new win2008, sql2008 env.

Hi all,

On a new win2008 server, I installed CRM 4.0, and SQl2008. restored a CRM database from another win2003, sql2005 CRM env (another domain). In the SQL 2008, I added the uses, groups of current domain to the restoed CRM database XXX_MSCRM.

Then on the win2008 server, I imported the restored CRM database using the CRM deployment manager tool. the new CRM instance works correctly, but the reposrts do not work. I installed CRM data connector on win2008 server, reports still not work.
I've checked the report server.
on http://aa/ReportServer, I can see 2 CRM orgnizations dirs there. (1 is the default org, another is the imported one). Gointo the CRM org dir, I see a dir named "4.0", go into it, can see many reports(just GUID) listed there. I click one, it asks me to enter user name and password. I enter my domain account name and password, click "view report" button, get the following message.

An error occurred during client rendering.
- An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
  - Cannot create a connection to data source 'DataSource1'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
    - Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes (xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx).

I go to http://aa/Reports, also can see the 2 crm org folders, but there are no items in those folders.

In Reporting services configuration manager, it states that report server db name is ReportServer, report server mode is native, report server service account is network Service.

any advice would be appreciated.

this is driving me nuts.

first of all, I can't yet use Rollup7 (because we've just gone live and haven't tested it yet).
however, we're using Rollup5 which contains the hotfix to solve this second mailbox delegate issue

issue 953812 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953812/EN-US/ who's fix has been incorporated in hotfixes since June (hence Rollup5 having it)

Even though I had an old version of the Outlook CRM client, Rollup5 wouldn't change the version numbers from 4.0.7333.3 (to match the Rollup5 server)until I uninstalled it, found an old version of the client and installed that, and then re-installed Rollup5. Now both Server and Outlook client have the same version numbers:

4.0.7333.1644

I've followed the instructions for issue 953812 (see link above) in creating the registry key DelegateMailboxEnabled.

and still I get the error "Only items in the default Outlook store can be promoted to CRM" etc... the only difference is that the dialog box has changed!

is there something I'm still missing?

CRM 4.0 Geo-Location

Hi MVP’s,

I am busy working on a bid for a ITT and I’m hoping for some help with a requirement spec’d in the ITT.

The customer has a head office based somewhere in the British Virgin Islands, and branch offices around the US and the EU.

The ITT specifies that the response should include a highly available, high performance model, but keeping costs in mind J As CRM does not have any geo-location features out of the box, what would be the best way to implement this?

Here are a couple of pointers:

· We have the option of using data centres in the head office, and the UK.

· I’m not 100% sure on bandwidth and latency at the moment. So the idea of having single environment at the head office is not yet decided.

· If we went with CRM servers at each data centre, and a SQL cluster at each, this gets messy with the need to replicate SAN’s across the WAN.

I know this is very vague, but I’m really just looking for information on how the back end would look on this, is a replicated SAN module a option, or should we really just be looking at a single location (head office) and tweaking the network to get optimal performance.

It is worth mentioning, that the ITT specified 500ms response times, which in our experience, is not even realistic in a completely local environment

Unable to Export or delete entities

Hi,

I have made some snapshots for entites for eg. i have one loan entity for that i have made loan snapshot and have created some relationship(n:1).after that i am not able to export the customizations. it throws error that "the attribute already exists create a new", seeing this i m deleting but still not getting deleted.the default icons are also not coming for these entities.can u please help me , how can i proceed further.

Hi,

I want to use the service calendar to plan some activities in our organization. The following situation is possible:

When planning a service activity it could occur that this activity has multiple occurences, say each monday for ten weeks.

But when I use the planning form to find available dates it's not possible to select multiple available dates. Is this a setting?

If not, is it possible to customize this for a ASP.Net/C# developer? (E.g. if multiple dates, plan multiple service activities.)

Exporting in SQL reports without export rights in CRM... Help!

Hi everybody!

I hope this hasn't been asked before - I did a search on the forum and couldn't see anything, so perhaps it's only us having this issue.

We've recently upgraded from 3.0 to 4.0 (loving it so far!). We have a number of SQL reports running in CRM, from which our sales team needs to export data on a regular basis. Normally they export from the reports to either PDF or excel.

The problem we're having is that our company has made the decision not to allow users export rights from CRM - it's a security thing. Unfortunately, we've discovered that in v4.0 we have to give users full export rights in CRM for them to be able to export data in the SQL reports.

We didn't have this problem with v3.0 - I guess report rights were kept separate from CRM rights.

Does anybody have a suggestion as to how we can get around this? As in, give our users rights to export from SQL reports in CRM, but not from CRM itself.

I thought maybe we could hide the 'Export to Excel' button in CRM wherever it appears, but I haven't been able to find anything online about how to do this. I suppose the other solution is to move the reports off CRM and just onto Reporting Services, but then we don't have the advantage of the Advanced Find filtering within CRM. So that's not ideal.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I've two Custom Entities :

VL_Prods

VL is parent for VL_Prods...Initially VL and VL_Prods both were working fine. But now whenever i try to create a record of VL_prods, i get following error:

"the requested record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it"

I've removed all custom JavaScript, Plugins, Relationships, Attributes from VL_Prods and currently it has just 2 attributes i.e. new_name and owner....Even then I get the same error on clicking Save Button.

I deleted the entity VL_Prods and recreated it with the same name, and yet the same error...

I created a new entity VL_Prods2, and it worked fine even with relationships and everthing.

I've upto Rollup 6 installed on my server, but even then i am getting this error :( ... Why is it showing such behavior for this perticular named entity : "VL_Prods" ??????? Any help????

hi

we are about to deploy crm 4.0 in our company for our customer relations team

We have a third party company coming to do the deployment of CRM. we have to supply the hardware for CRM and SQL to be installed on.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any info on there experience with such deployments. things to watch out for areas which if not done correctly may cause issues later down the road.

I been working on a team of Microsoft CRM 4.0 in my company, i was the one who install and configure it. I always came up to slow connection when using IE. I don't know how could make it faster. Any resolution in this matter?

i already check the server, it run smooth.But when running the CRM it took a hour to prompt the window..!

When a CRM user set for "E-mail access type - Outgoing" to "E-mail router" tries to send an e-mail to an external e-mail address (a contact), the message is undelivered due to spam reasons (SpamAssasin), and the following NDR is received in the sender's Inbox:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

We just installed CRM 4.0 then installed and configured the Outlook client but all attempts to run Outlook with the CRM client stops while propagating language or Initializing Outlook interface with the error: MS CRM webservice hoster has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. Please tell MS about the problem...

click send or don't send then another popup: An error occurred loading MS Dynamics CRM functionality. Try restarting Outlook. Contact your system administrator if errors persist.

At about the same time Event application log has: MSCRMAddin event 5911 (info), .NET Runtime 2.0 error reporting event1000, MSCRMAddin event 5909, MSCRMAddin event 16940, MSCRMAddin event 16930, MSCRMAddin event5903.

Tried using a new Outlook profile, but same error. Tried deleting outcmd.dat file, but same error.

Anyone seen this or have suggestions?

i have just upgraded CRM 3 to CRM 4. Just after install everything was just fine, however after installing rollup 1 during loading CRM i have following error on page title 0x800048309 and standard error that i have to contact my system administrator or support.

I need to add a image to CRM email activity text area. some logo image.

I can acheive this by publishing the image in web and refering it with its url.

We are installing Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 together with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services all on the same server and we receive the following error message:

"The specified path is not a metabase path." Platform Error: System.Exception: Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.RSConfigAction failed. ---> System.ArgumentException: The specified path is not a metabase path.

One workaround is as below

In Windows Server 2003, follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, and then type inetmgr.
Expand the server name, right-click Web Sites, click New, and then click Web Site.
Enter a description for the site, and then click Next.
Enter the port number of the report server Web service. For example, enter 8181, and then click Next.
Enter a path for the Web site, and then click Next.
On the Permissions page, click Next.
Click Finish.

I am currently stuck on the fifth step. After entering the port number in my case 800, what path should i enter? This path is to what folder? There is no reporting service folder! so should i just create any empty folder?

If i install the CRM on another server and connect it to this one which has sql server 2008 and reporting will the problem still stay? I cannot change the port from 800 to 80 as it used by symantec endpoint

Can CRM web application be installed with exchange and sharepoint on a different port on the same server.

This is a bit urgent

Migrating/Updating CRM 3 to CRM 4 on another SQL Server

Hi,

a i was delegated to migrate CRM 3 to CRM 4 to another server. My CRM 3 do not have any custom reports so i think it would be easier. Could anyone help me with the procedure of such task. I think i could this in this way:
1) Backup bases: org__metabase; org__mscrm; org__mscrmdistribution
2) Restore databases on target server
3) Install CRM on those restored databases (i do not know is it possible)

Is this plan correct or i have forgotten about something which is important?

Forward mailbox for Hosted solution + not allowed to auto-forward externally

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any ideas to get around this scenario:

1) Client is going to use Forward mailbox to process Incoming messages with the Email Router
2) The Forward mailbox (and CRM 4.0) exists in a Hosted environment external to their infrastructure
3) Their Coporate IT services will not allow turning on of "Auto-forward Email to External Domains" (top Level Global Exchange setting)
4) Therefore forward mailbox rules will not work and send on email

Have tried alternatives such as trying to trick the infrastructure by creating a mailbox within their Organisation that accepts the Forward as Attachment rules, that then auto-forwards using "Alternate Recipient" at the user level, but it is still blocked.

Any ideas??

CRM Outlook connector installation issue

Hi there,

I am having some trouble installing the CRM outlook connector where it is stuck in a restart loop. The system I am trying to install it on is a laptop running Vista Business with a fresh install of Office 2007. I have extracted the installation files and when I start the installation the program pops up a box stating that installation cannot proceed as there is a pending restart. I have restarted the machine several times but the issue persists. Does anyone have any ideas how to get past this point?

Hello,

I had to migrate our CRM to another server.
I backed up the organisation_MSCRM and MSCRM_CONFIG database.
Went to the other server, restored the organisation_MSCRM db, and imported it with the deployment manager which is included in the CRM.
Everything works fine but I wanted to migrate every single setting I made to the CRM (columns and other UI stuff)
So I restored the MSCRM_CONFIG db, now I get the following message.

Invalid User Authorization

The user authentication passed to the platform is not valid.

I checked the registry, and any referral to the old database in the database tables, everything should be ok.

I'm a novice in supporting CRM from an infrastructure point of view, and need some help with a config question, if you can spare the time.

Currently we have CRM 4.0 installed in domain A. During installation, CRM autocreated AD groups also in domain A (UserGroup, SQLAccessGroup, ReportingGroup). Users are in domain B and are being added using a webinterface in CRM, this works just fine. There is a full trust between the two domains.

We are changing our AD structure to use nested groups across child domains, so we need to make some changes to the setup, please see below for a summary of the situation:

Currently: User accounts (domain B) are members of CRM AD group (domain A)

Future: User accounts (domain B) are members of AD group (domain B) who is a member of CRM AD group (domain A)

Where do we change the setup so that CRM will use the new groups in domain B instead of the default groups in domain A?

(Making the new groups in domain B members of the existing groups in domain A will not work, as the webinterface to add CRM users will continue to add the user account to the AD groups in domain A.)

MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 Reports have wrong links

After running a report in CRM 4.0, the results of the links contain links that are invalid.

For example, if you were to run the (out of the box) User Summary report, the results should contain a list of all the users, their title, email address, main phone, and which role (or roles) they belong to.

Clicking on the Name of the person SHOULD take you to the CRM page where all information is displayed about that user. My problem is that the link is incorrect. It contains a port number, 5555, that is no longer correct. The problem also happens if we use any reports on Accounts. If the user runs a report, that lists Accounts in the results, clicking on the name of each account should open the account's entity page. That wrong port number is there again.

I'm sure this is a result of a setting we missed when switching the port number. After the original installation, we did have it running on port 5555. Since then we've switched it to run on port 80. What do I need to change so that those links don't have ":5555" appended to the server name?

IFD configuration not relevant on two servers

Hi, I configured IFD from one of my customer and I get this strange problems:

1/ The Crm server itself uses IFD authentication. I thought that a crm server always use OnPremise authentication. But that is not the case here... does it seem normal to you?

2/ I defined an IP address for one of the server (IP: 10.159.59.15, Mask: 255.255.255.255) to use OnPremise and this server still uses IFD authentication. The same kind of configuration (IP: 10.159.59.24, Mask: 255.255.255.255) worked fine on another server, which use OnPremise authentication.

May I get your advice on these problems?

I think I get the following error after installing and uninstalling MSCRM OUTLOOK Toolbar. This is really critical. I cannot open any forms that have currency field.

Dynamics CRM 4.0 in Multi Domain Enviornment

I have CRM installed into a VM test environment with 2 domain controllers in the following configuration:

There are 2 domains in this configuration with a TWO Way trust established between the two domains

DOMAIN_1 - CRM is installed into this domain, the installation admin login works fine ex. DOM1/firstname.lastname

DOMAIN_2 - When I add a use to this domain, CRM cannot authenticate this user via this domain ex. DOM2/firstname.lastname

Any suggestions on how to handle this?

crm url not opening (HTPP 400 Bad request) but localhost working

recently i installed crm successfully...
but when I launch the URL like http://localhost:5555....its working fine

when I launch the URL http://myserver:5555...its displaying error message saying (HTPP 400 Bad request) ????

I checked in registrykey settings HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM in that serverurl is http://myserver:5555/MSCRMServices

Please help me in resolving this issue

Using CRM tasks in Outlook causes it to freeze or causes error

Our setup

CRM 4.0 with rollup 4

Windows 2003 SP2 terminal server with Outlook 2003 SP3

Workstations XP Pro with Outlook 2007 SP2

When we create a CRM task in Outlook 2003 on the term server, Outlook will freeze or create an error “This record is read-only in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Changes will not be synchronized to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM system.”

We can create a CRM task in the Outlook CRM folder with no issues, and we can create an Outlook task in Outlook with no issues.

So it’s only an issue when creating a CRM task in Outlook and trying to use that task in the Outlook tasks area.

We have no issues using tasks of any kind on the workstations in Outlook 2007.

CRM Will not open at all, issues with SQL Server

I am having a strange issue configuring a brand new CRM test environment. I am using 2 servers, one with Windows Server 2003 and another is a Windows Server 2008 with SQL Server 2008. I am not sure what has changed but am at a loss on how to fix this?

1. I just installed CRM into a new environment this morning. (CRM_SERVER1)
2. Everything seemed to be working just fine however I could not get a report to display via the GUI
3. I went to the htp://myserver/ReportServer and was able to open up a report.
4. I decided that I needed to install the SQL Connector for Reporting Services. Started the install but got stopped at an error. "Unable to validate SQL Server Reporting Services Report Server installation. Please check that it is correctly installed on the local machine. "
5. Went to lunch....
6. Came back and CRM would not open via IE at all... no errors or anything
7. I tried to open the htp://myserver/ReportServer URL on the SQL Server (SQL_SERVER1)using the installattion account and got the below error?
8. CRM will not open up either, however I can log into SQL Server and see my CRM Databases...

Hi,

I have tried searching with little or no success. Has anyone got any material or would appreciate any advise in carrying out a deployment of CRM v4 for Outlook on terminal server 2008. As an example, there are 100 users only which 10 users should be able to see/view the CRM options for outlook and is hidden from the rest of the users. A user can potentially jump onto any server when logging on, however the CRM server will be hosted on a dedicated Hyper V box. Any pointers to the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hi team,

I have managed to install & configure the sample portal against my test organization (portal site is only configured for internal access so far) but the eService console in crm throws an error no matter where I try to access it from (server or client, on the network or IFD). The error returned is the generic crm message (error, contact your system administrator etc) but is actually 401 unauthorized according to the diagnostic tool. My environment is CRM 4 R6 on a 2008 server with sql 2008 (seperate server) and IFD is configured. My user and the portal user both have system administrator security roles, the eService folder has been placed in the ISV folder within the CRM site and accompanying dll placed in the bin folder as per the installation instructions.

I have also tried changing the url within the SiteMap for the eservice console from http://localhost:5555/ISV/eService/EntityList.aspx
to http://<servername>:5555/ISV/eService/EntityList.aspx but it didn't make any difference.

I see another user has the same problem as posted at the end of this codeplex thread http://crmaccelerators.codeplex.com/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=43515 but nobody has responded as yet.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Why crm outlook can't connect to CRM4.0 via internet?

Hi all,

we published our internal CRM to internet (not the IFD, just assign a public IP). we can access it using IE from internet.
but the crm for outlook can't connect to the CRM. we configured the CRM for outlook to use the external address of our CRM as the one we using IE from internet. But the crm for outlook still can't connect to the CRM.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Organization Import - The connection's current state is closed

Hi,

This seems to be an ongoing problem with few that have found a resolution. Rollup 7 to Rollup 7. I've done the basic's and updated the
OLEDBTimeout(86400)  and ExtendedTimeout(1000000) registry entries.

By chance today I get emailed about this hotfix, however seems it has been recalled by Microsoft? I've had multiple redeployments in 3.0 with very few problems, but after 7 rollups, somewhat concerned about the complexity to perform a simple restore.
