I get the following error in the Solution Import, no matter if i try to import a completely empty or a customized solution:

The error message does not tell much. How do I trace what causes the error? Where can I access an error log in CRM online for this purpose?

The Solution Import was working fine a week ago.

But now I get this error, no matter if I try to import one of my old solutions or an empty new one.

I hope there are some missing components like

    1. if u are importing solution from one environment to another environment, if any plugins are registered, then u need to register the plugins before import.
    2. check ribbon customisation

Check if ur solution, that contain all entities or only entities customized by you. if it is having all entities, then create a new solution with customized entities, then publish, and export the solution, and import, may be it will import.

hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful.

Use this tool to enable tracing
    http://crmdiagtool2011.codeplex.com/
And if you want to enable it manually please check this link

Thanks for the quick reaction Mubasher.

I read about that tracing tool not working on the CRM Online before posting my question. I think it requires registry or other admin-level access to the server that is not available for CRM Online users.

However if you have an idea for making it work you are very welcome to share it :)

Thanks for your fast response Charlee.

    1. I am not moving solutions between environments. Can you clarify the plugin part? I had 1 plugin registered some time ago, now I unregistered it (by Plugin Registration Tool) and the sample assembly too (not touching the basic crm object assembly)

    2. I had a ribbon customization on the Calendar (activitypointer ribbon) that hides a button and inserts other buttons. How would this affect importing an empty solution?

    Chech those areas
    1. If u registered plugin, then remove plugin assemblies from CRM, and try
    2. once if u imported solution with ribbon customization, again if u want import, then modify customization.xml file on area of ribbon grid to come back original position, and import solution, after that if u want modify ribbon, and then do ribbon customization again
    3. check your solution that it is having only custom entities or all,it it is having all entities inn CRM, keep only custom entities which are done customization by you.
