Hi All,
I am facing a strange problem where when I access MS CRM 2011 from within outlook client (2010 on-line mode) and
- open an existing form (for example opportunity) which uses getFormType function on its page load.
- Then click on the left nav (say activity) of the form (opportunity)
- Now if I close the form by clicking 'X' button on the right hand top corner I get the following error
<Message>Unable to get value of the property 'getFormType': object is null or undefined</Message>
Microsoft Dynamics CRM Error Report Contents <CrmScriptErrorReport> <ReportVersion>1.0</ReportVersion> <ScriptErrorDetails> <Message>Unable to get value of the property 'getFormType': object is null or undefined</Message> <Line>1</Line> <URL>/main.aspx?etc=3&extraqs=%3fetc%3d3%26id%3d%257b2EA01C1B-44FF-E111-B1AF-0050569F000B%257d%26pagemode%3diframe%26preloadcache%3d1347731860650&pagetype=entityrecord</URL> <PageURL>/main.aspx?etc=3&extraqs=%3fetc%3d3%26id%3d%257b2EA01C1B-44FF-E111-B1AF-0050569F000B%257d%26pagemode%3diframe%26preloadcache%3d1347731860650&pagetype=entityrecord</PageURL> <Function></Function> <CallStack> </CallStack> </ScriptErrorDetails> <ClientInformation> <BrowserUserAgent>Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; Microsoft Outlook 14.0.6117)</BrowserUserAgent> <BrowserLanguage>en-us</BrowserLanguage> <SystemLanguage>en-au</SystemLanguage> <UserLanguage>en-au</UserLanguage> <ScreenResolution>1364x768</ScreenResolution> <ClientName>Outlook Laptop - Online</ClientName> <ClientTime>2012-09-16T03:57:48</ClientTime> </ClientInformation> <ServerInformation> <OrgLanguage>1033</OrgLanguage> <OrgCulture>3081</OrgCulture> <UserLanguage>1033</UserLanguage> <UserCulture>3081</UserCulture> <OrgID>{C0B61F10-A99F-4DB7-8006-E3EBBA0950EC}</OrgID> <UserID>{A16C9D7C-39A6-E111-BB8A-0050569F000B}</UserID> <CRMVersion>5.0.9690.2243</CRMVersion> </ServerInformation> </CrmScriptErrorReport>
Has anyone faced this problem? Is there some workaround that can be implemented? Any other suggestion will be greatly helpful.

Hi.
What is the code you use to call the method?
var formType = Xrm.Page.ui.getFormType();

Hey Jamie,
i have the same issue. Don't think it has anything to do with the actual getformtype used in my code. This seems to work. When I open an account and I go to another tab. When I close the form, then I get this issue..
Have the latest Outlook client
What can I do?
Kr,
Sven

I did some testing with UR11 on this, and the error does not seem to persist in UR11.
I hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful. Michael Mayo

Have done numerous tests with CRM UR11 and the issue persists
Where can I contact Microsoft for this?
