The report says genunine but I am unable to download anything that has to be validated. It prompts me to validate for windows genuine software and comes back with the Validation Incomplete: Unable to Perform Validaton [0x80080299] message.
If I go to this link, http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/validate.aspx , it says Validation Complete. Thank you for validating your copy of Microsoft Windows. Thank you for using the Windows Genuine Advantage program. You may now access resources for genuine Windows users.
But then when I try to download something, it goes back to the same unable to perform validation message. I have been having some scripting problems also so when I click on links in IE6 a new blank page opens. I also had IE7 installed but it obviously had problems with the download. I had to work with a microsoft person for an hour on the phone to uninstall it. There may be some lingering problems. I'd like to reinstall IE7 but the validation problem won't let me.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Thanks for the response Dan. I have been reading this forum for several weeks and have attempted most everything I've seen for a system like mine. The manage add ons and active x thing did not help.
I can get to the validation complete page but when I then go directly to downloads by clicking the downloads on the side of that page, it makes me do the validation thing again which I fail. Its and endless evil cycle.
Please visit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b308d840-b1ee-4d55-ad5e-68b21aed1b6f&DisplayLang=en and download/install the latest WGA file.
Thanks Phil. I did as you suggested with no luck for a permanent solution. I have no problem getting to the page that says Validation complete, Thanks for validating. The problem is what comes next. Its like the computer only has short term memory. I click on downloads on the left of the validation complete page and try to download IE7 and its sends me to the validation required process again which I again can't complete. How do I make the validation stick so I can download things?
