I just bought MS Works 9.  It was a terrible experience.  You guys ought to be ashamed of the packaging job.  I had to destroy the box in order to get it open!  Then I wanted to remove the product ID sticker from the box before throwing the box away.  I had to bend and fracture the plastic to get it off and it is left with sharp fragments of the plastic.   Next, I could find no reference to MS Word being part of the package - like it is in Works 2004 and 2005 which I already have.  Well, I figured I could install it anyway and see.  Well it won't install unless I remove Works 2005!  That means I would lose Word entirely.  I bought Works 9 for the express reason to get the latest version of Word.  You have terribly dissappointed me!

    Hello Russk2t,

There is plenty of info about Works 9 available on the Works webpage at Microsoft.com:
    http://www.microsoft.com/products/works/default.mspx

If your main concern is to have the latest edition of Microsoft Word, perhaps purchasing Office Home and Student 2007 would be a better option.  Office Home & Student 2007 includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote.  If you live in the USA, you can watch the sales at the Big Box stores and sometimes get a copy of Office Home and Student 2007 for as little as $79.99 (regular retail price seems to be about $149).  Since the retail license for H&S allows you to install it on up to three computers in the same household when used for noncommercial purposes, that works out to less than $30 for each computer.

If you are not 100% satisfied with any Microsoft retail product, and you reside in North America, if your reseller will not accept a return of the product, you can send the product to Microsoft for a refund within 45 days of purchase:
