Office 2007 failing validation due to Project 2002

I have just installed Office 2007. I have some older Office products on my machine, notably Project (Standard) 2002. Office is failing validation (error= [0x80180101] ) because it says that Project 2002 is not activated. It is a legal copy, but as far as I can tell, there is no way to activate it (Project 2002).
Below is the info from the Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool.
Thanks for your help -- I can't live without Office working!

Hello,
Please first try to activate your Office 2007 before you validate it.

I did that -- I did activate Office 2007 first and that was fine.
The problem is that I cannot use additional add-ins without validating my system. (Specficially, Windows Desktop Search and the Calendar Printing Assistant cannot be used unless your system is validated).
My system is failing validation because I have Project 2002 (not because of any problem with Office 2007).
The problem is that there is no way to mark Project 2002 as "activated" -- it's too old and doesn't include such functionality or information.
The way this should work, IMNSHO, is that Project 2002 should be noted as an exception by the validation tool and so should not be flagged. But that info is clearly not part of the tool.
So an interim solution is needed.
Thanks.

Hi Ashley,
Can you try the steps outlined below? Please note that you will want to have the product keys for your Office suite/product handy as you will need to re-activate the products.
1) Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\
2) Delete the data.dat file.
3) This data.dat file is for Office (not OGA).
4) Once the file has been deleted, open an Office application such as MS Word and ACTIVATE it.
5) After product activation is successful, let’s try revalidating (this is the OGA part; Office Genuine Advantage): http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/Validate.aspx?displaylang=enPlease let us know if this worked for you.
Thanks,

I re-installed everything and now it's all passing validation.
So I first uninstalled Office 2007 and uninstalled Project 2002, then reinstalled Project 2002 & activated it, then reinstalled Office 2007 and activated it as well.
On the advice of the Msoft customer support person, when I uninstalled, I also removed all of the pertinent registry entries, was sure to delete temporary directories related to Office, and ran a utility that checked to be sure that *everything* was uninstalled and cleared out. (Of course, you'd think that would all be taken care of by running uninstall. But that's a different issue. ;-) )
So now it's all validated and working.
