Office 2007 problem
A "friend" installed a non-genuine copy of office 207 on my student son's computer. We have now bought a genuine copy. Having uninstalled the bogus copy we installed the new version and get a "This copy of Office is not genuine" message. How do we get it properly validated? We got a message about there not being a valid address for a .dll file, but it disappeard before I could find a pen to note it down. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it again without success.

The OGA Data part of the report and the Other Data part of the report are still showing that you have two full installations of Office Enterprise 2007 on this Dell Inspiron 1501 computer. As you can see in the snippet, one Office is a nongenuine volume licensing installation and the other is a retail license that is not yet activated.
I have to think that getting rid of the nongenuine Office is key. If you have already tried uninstalling using the Programs applet in the Control Panel and this is the result, I think you are going to have to use something stronger. This MS KB http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928218 tells you how to uninstall Office manually, and this one http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971179/ has an MS FixIt that will do it.
As I read the above documentation, you will end up removing all Office programs and suites.
Once you think you have Office uninstalled, restart twice, then install the genuine copy, then activate normally. Restart, then validate at www.microsoft.com/genuine.
