Ah - I see what the problem is.
The SLIC table appears to have been 'mislaid' somewhere.
You need to change the Key to the one on your COA sticker on the machine's case, using the Change Product Key link on the System properties page - you may have to activate by phone.

Good - please post a new MGADiag report so we can check that the change has gone through ok.
Keep an eye on it for the next few days, and run another report at any signs of trouble. Post back if there are (but there shouldn't be).

Is there a way to do this through the Recovery Environment command prompt? I am no longer able to boot into Windows. -
Saturday, May 19, 2012 9:07 AMModerator
No - that's not possible.
When you say you are unable to get into Windows, do you mean that Safe Mode doesn't work either? (It should, although you can't change the Key there either).
If Safe Mode doesn't work, then you have more problems than just activation - please start a new thread of your own detailing your problem.

It "appears" to have worked.
I am confused.
You posted a message saying it appeared to have worked, but then (2 days later) you say you are no longer able to boot into Windows.
Could you describe the course of events, and the current status of your non-genuine issue, a little clearer?
Thank you,
Darin MS
