Vista validation error
- After an unsuccesfull update to servicepack 2 Vista thinks this Ultimate 32 bit version is illegal,
after a lot of searching it will start now but validating end with an error 0x080072EDF and the statement the version of wich I have CD and key is illegal. And thus will not validate the software. Will the same fix work as in the 64 bit version?
(maybe with an other registry key?)

- Hello Han,
In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.
If you do not have access to the Start Button:
1) Login to Vista and click the option that brings up Internet Explorer.
2) Type: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 into the browser address bar.
3) A window will come up asking if you want to “Run” or “Save”, Select “Run”
4) When the program runs, click the “Continue” button, then click the “Copy” button.
5) Return to this thread http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinevista/thread/4ca24b75-a490-408d-aaae-fd29a1e40b75.
6) In a reply post, paste the Diagnostic Report.
Thank you,

I had hoped for a more usefull answer, but still thank you for the effort.
What I did to solve the problem in the end was the following:
- 1) Click the option that launches an Internet Browser
- 2) A Browser will open, type: %windir%\system32 into the address field
3) Find the file cmd.exe
4) Right Click on the cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
-
5) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
9) Type net start slsvc
10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
where microsoft still claim youre perfectly legal copie of Vista is illegal.
but if you activate the explorer by the explorer.exe command and go to the website http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/ to validate your windows Vista, suddenly it is Legal again and everything works!
However trying to install service pack 2 the second time is a bad idea, it's probably as rubish as the whole of Vista and the installation crashes again.
Lets hope the windows 7 makes us forget this misery.
Sorry for the english but I don't suppose you understand any Dutch.
