    I found problems on the net in which people can't activate thier product during reinstallation for one or other reasons.

    I have MAK, so if I install then activate windows, then made a system image of whole OS drive, I don't think it requires activation when I have to reinstall windows from image installation, does it?

    You're correct in respect of the activation - assuming that the image is a good one, and properly done both on the backup and the restore phases.

    A backup is always a good idea - and an activated (and optimised one) reduces the hassle if a reinstall is the only option.
