My XP computer is dying and will only run in safe mode, tho can do money 2005 in safe mode. Have loaded the same program onto a second computer to import the 4 yrs of data and bury first computer. however when i copy a datafile across it wont read. 18MB size. New computer version of money 2005 reports error - cant read backup file or .mny file ["eg write protected / lack rights "etc i couldnt find any of these reasons true]. I have the password and if I remove that still wont import. I can start a new file on new computer but dont wont to lose all the back data. Have tried on an xp and w7, same result.
Can you tell me how to get the file read by money 2005 in the new computer. [I only want a single version, of course, but cant bin the old computer till I get the data transferred]
many thanks
PG

Be sure you are connected to the internet and right click on the shortcut you use to launch Money 2005 and select Run as administrator. This will let the required online update be installed.
Then see http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/money/thread/43da0fb8-c66a-4577-bcc0-670893ec44ea and create the backup disk.
