    Where is the On/Off control for the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000?

    I've spent two hours searching for an answer to this question and have come up with links to;
    1. Customer reviews complaining there is no on/off switch
    2. Multiple links citing an auto off function bult in to the usb receiver somewhere....  Unfortunately every single link citing this feature only go to online retailers for all wireless mice/keyboard products without a single reference to the ellusive auto power off feature.  (I even searched multiple user reviews from those hits)

    Unless I remove the batteries the red LED remains on 24/7. (I wanted to add 365 after 24/7 but estimated battery life is 6 months)

    There is no user manual specific to this device that I could find although several search results on various microsoft.com entry points indicated one in the link.

    Granted LED's are very low on power consumption by themselves but I prefer a zero consumption option when not in use without removing the batteries.  I'm pretty sure their have to be sensors on as well even if it has a sleep mode.

    Q1 Is there really an on/off function for this device anywhere without removing the batteries or do I have to buy a switch and install it myself with a soldering iron?

    Q2 With 100's of user reviews complaining about this issue why is there no user manual or  FAQ link covering this concern?
