FTP and firewalls

Wednesday, July 30, 2008 6:42 PMI run AVG firewall on several machines, and its (more or less) default configuration blocks FTP. But HDView install seems to use FTP.
My solution was to turn off the firewall momentarily. But not all viewers will know to do this. Either changing back to an HTTP download, or a big note ("turn off your firewall so we can download our program--its NOT malware, TRUST US!") is in order.

Right, the Microsoft Research download page is ftp://ftp.research.microsoft.com/downloads.
Not sure if we have an alternative but I'll check.
