Malicious IP being contacted by in-memory process(unknown)

The IP involved are 218.8.245.96 and 216.34.131.135. According to a 3rd party security program, these IP are being contacted by a process running in memory...even while the pc is idle. These attempts are being blocked by the security program. But I am unable to identify who the sites are or the process that's trying to connect to them. Of course, if I turn off the 3rd party security program...no more problem....but what is really going on here?? Some memory resident program is trying to connect with these IP.....for what reason I don't know. Can you help me>???

3rd party program is Malwarebytes and its IP protection service. I can not even validate that these IP exist. My research show no record found for these IP. Malwarebytes.org has been tasked to look into this as well, but since this is a Microsoft pc with MS software running(for the most part), I thought I'd get your input as well.

HELP! .exe, .torrent, and other files are not working!
I noticed this when my laptop hibernates on its own, shut down on its own, and when I play a game, it crashes and restart the laptop! PLEASE HELP!

I tried using Advance System Care and scan.
I tried using TuneUp Utilities 2009 and ran a complete maintenance check, registry fix, etc.
I tried doing a deep system scan using Bitdefender Total Security 2010.

But in the end, it was hopeless.

Recently I discovered problem opening PDF file from HTML page when both files are on CD. The same link woks when files are placed on the hard drive or on web server. Explorer has some standard settings, nothing has been changed since IE upgrading. PDF file is not corrupted. No trusted sites are set.

Any idea why it is happening or what settings to be modified?

Cannot read removable media

My IBM thinkpat T41 running windows xp cannot read removable media. It can't read a usb flash drive nor can it read a SD card. Whenever I click on it in My Computer it says that it is not formatted and would I like to format it now. If I try to format it, it says that it was unable to format it.

So then, my computer is getting old, I need a new one, but I need to make it last a bit longer. The usual things like HD and RAM etc. Im going to upgrade couple of things and replace the HD to get a bit longer out of it.

To the point anyway, I need to replace the primary HD with a new one and haven’t got the OS disk (the manufacturer kindly left it out). Im using windows xp home, and got the original product key. I don’t want to buy the OS again just for the disk.

What are my options with getting the OS onto the new hard drive ?

I am facing following issue while passing an INT parameter value to SYBASE SP.

Error [42000][Sybase][ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Enterprise]Implicit conversion from data type ‘CHAR’ to ’INT’ is not allowed.

Use CONVERT function to run query.

Input parameter is defined as int only.

I am not able to pass float (Decimal) values also.

Can you please help me to resolve this issue?

Excel commands not available when macro is paused

In Excel 2003, I was able to pause a macro switch to Excel and perform excel functions, then switch back to VB and resume the macro.

In Excel 2007 when I pause a macro and switch to excel, most of the excel functionality does not respond. I can switch between sheets and perform 'browse' type functions, but I cannot change cell values or select functions in the ribbon or change the ribbon tab. I must cancel the macro before Excel will let me perform additional commands. If I try to perform commands while the macro is paused, excel saves them up and when I finally cancel the macro, the commands that did not execute during the pause are then performed.

Any ideas on how to get Excel to respond while a macro is paused?

Hi,

My Acer Laptop had pre-loaded Windows Vista Home Premium and I also received Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade DVD along with it.

I need to format an existing version and want to do a clean / fresh installation of the same version (Windows Vista Home Premium) of the OS.
Can I do that with this DVD?
Do this DVD have all the required installation files to do a fresh and complete OS install?
Can someone guide me on how can I do that?
I have been looking around online to find some information, but didn't get a clear idea. Any help is highly appreciated.

I just hooked-up a brand-new Dell XSP 435MT computer that had Windows Vista Premium 64-bit system installed on it. I re-loaded my Office 2007 disk with all the components, including Outlook 2007, on the new computer. All the files and data transferred with no problem. Even my Outlook contacts remained identical to my last system. I can "Send" mail with no problem. The problem is "Receiving" mail. I contacted my ISP; we had two lengthy phone conversations where the password was changed and other settings moved around and changed back and forth to no avail. The tech told me he would have to turn in a service ticket and it would take 72-hours to get the problem fixed. Ouch! Honestly, I'm not all that comfortable changing "things" around, like file extensions, registry items and things of that nature. Is there a quick and easy fix for this issue from Microsoft?

when i startup my computer (hp hdx vista 64) as soon as i log in, i have about a 20 second window where everything will work fine like it should, then the whole computer completely freezes, except for any programs that i had opened in the 20 second window. (for example i am typeing this and listening to music on the computer with the problem) as soon as i minimize a window to the tray, i cannot get it back, the time freezes, cant open the start menu, even if i had....say my computer open, i can no longer do anything with it, the mouse just turns to the little spinny circle.

also, as soon as the computer freezes, an unfamiliar icon appears in the tray in the bottom right of the screen (status bar?? i think) it looks like a planet, (its a circle with grid lines like a globe) i don't know if anybody has seen that icon before or not. so that makes me think that the virus takes a few moments before it starts, and as soon as it does start, it puts up its icon and locks windows explorer

this is my fist experiance ever with a virus, i have avast up to date, it didn't tell me anything, all the firewalls were and are still on,

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

When I change my task bar setting to auto-hide and click apply my window looks like it loads to accept but it only stays loading then it says "not responding" and if you close this window then the icons disappear along with the task bar and the setting returns to its default settings.

My DHCP has exhausted its ip address pool but i have another network that existed separate from our LAN to be incoporated into one network/LAN. I would like to use either Superscoping or Vlanning. However my Corporate LAN is 10.11.10.0/24. I have only four IP addresses free and over 50 users to be enrolled into my LAN. Please help how best i can tackle this.

My destop runs at 32-bit, my laptop at 64-bit....I've just ordered a new desktop (Dual core, 64-bit)........Problem is: I can't run some of my older software at 64-bit, while they work on the 32-bit processor......I thought dual core processors were supposed to handle both......Anyone has any idea as to how I can re-arrange my 64-bit settings to accept 32-bit software?......Tnx ahead for any replies that can help with this issue.....

Windows XP Keeps Forgetting my Audio Drivers (Not Windows Logo Tested)

As of the update on 9, 2009, Windows keeps forgetting my audio drivers. I have to reinstall them every day and every day I get the "this software is Not Windows Logo Tested!" message.

I suspect windows is deleting my drivers as they aren't Windows Logo Tested. The problem is that there are no drivers for my sound card that are Windows Logo Tested and the drivers I'm using are the most up-to-date ones by Realtek for their AC'97 soundcard!

How can i make Windows remember my drivers so I don't have to reinstall them every day? Can the Windows Logo Tested check be told to ignore just one driver or be shut off entirely?
