installation interrupted

the installation can't be completed. It prompt" iinstallation will now add the application to your windows firewall exceptions list" when I click ok, It prompt" the specified service already exists" and tells me the installation was interrupted before conferenceXP Reflector 4.0 could be installed and let me click close to exit.

the error message prompted when I install reflector 4.1:

An exception occured during the commit phase of the installation. this exception will be ignored and installation will continue. however, the application might not function correctly after installation is complete --> the type initializer for 'system.management.managementpath' threw an exception --> the type initializer for'S.....

Personal venue server, public reflector service and multicast/unicast bridging

Hi Jason!

I'm currently having a private venue server for my organisation to connect to. But to save bandwidth, we are using a public reflector service (e.g. reflector.conferencexp.net). Some of my clients have multicast access while some only have unicast access.

So here's the situation: When a conference is run, the unicast client connect to both the reflector and the venue, while the multicast client connects only to the venue. Sometimes, I noticed the multicast client can receive all video streams without connecting to reflector, but sometimes they MUST connect to the reflector to receive all video streams. Is there any explanation for this random behaviour?

Reflector Service not stable

At the moment we suffer some issues regarding our own Reflector Service. There's no problem contacting the institutes but students have lots of trouble logging on. Some examples:

One moment the student is able to participate with sound and vision but at the next moment for the same student sound and vision will no longer be send allthough the student will still be present in the venue.
Student is not visible as participant in the venue and can not send sound and vision. The student is however able to hear and see the teacher.
Student is not able to enter the venue.

When students change the reflector service from reflector1.eminus.nl to conferencexp-reflector.commons.internet2.edu or reflector.conferencexp.net all participants will be visible in a few seconds and can be heared ans seen in the venue.

I hope somebody can link the issue described and give me a clue that points in the right direction.If i need to provide some more detailed information please let me know.

I tried to you a reflector service with two interfaces. I want to use both interfaces for conferenceXP clients.

I tried this, but it does not work:

we are using 2 conferenceXP clients and 1 conferenceReflector Service. The reflector server is behind a router.

If both clients talk without reflector service, all is ok. If the clients use the reflector service, on one client all is ok, on the other client, the video is not good.

On reflector service event log we can see this:

5 sites, 8 streams, All Unicast: What is the limit for Reflector

Hi again!

Today, we ran a Conference XP session with 5 sites (site A to E), 8 streams connected to the Reflector. Videos are streaming well but there seems to be some problems with audio.

Site A can hear site B-E clearly and loud but site B has trouble listening site C & E clearly. Audio is smooth but turned out to be very faint (e.g. ultra low volume kind of effect). Tested it on another client machine in site B and the same problem persists.

This not only happen to site B but also to another site. Ironically, site A, which hosts the Conferece XP servers, and together with another few sites are hearing all sites clearly. Any idea if Reflector machine has been maxed out or something?

Btw, we're running on a high speed university network so definately we have sufficient bandwidth. I've also chekced audio settings in Windows and Conference XP. If there is a bandwidth limit problem, I would expect audio to be choppy, but not smooth and "ultra low volume". Any explanation on this? Like does insufficient bandwidth or CPU power cause "ultra low volume" effect?

Unicast/Multicast bridging problems

Hi!

I'm testing between 2 clients now. It seems that either both of them have to use reflector service or both of them have to use multicast at the same time to be able to see each other.

If one side uses reflector while the other side uses multicast (i.e. bridging), then only the multicast party will be able to see all channel. The reflector (unicast) will only see himself.

Can you explain to me what's happening? Thanks.

No Picture in a unicast network

we are using ConferenceXP in a unicast network with a reflectorservice for some months.

CXP works fine, but the last two months we get in the Refloctor-LOG the following message:

partipians, get audio but the pictore frame is black in "one" direction. In the other direction all

works fine (video and audio).

Can anyone exlain, where the problem may be?

How to use Reflector Service?

We are testing ConferenceXP Client v.4.0 and Reflector Service:

Two users are connected to the same venue (Bryn Mawr on http://conferencexp-venues.commons.internet2.edu/venueservice) using the same reflector service

(conferencexp-reflector.commons.internet2.edu), but

they can't see each other.

Which may be the reason?

Windows Media Server + Reflector Service

Hello,

I would like to know if with this reflector service i can make a tunnel for video multicast traffic of a windows media server through internet to other persons.

I have installed a windows 2003 enterprise edition with media server. I configure this for stream multicast video generating two files .nsc and .asx. Inside my lan i can view the video multicast by WMP putting mms://ip/publication or by IE with http://server/publication.nsc.
Well, can i put this over internet with Reflector Service and then other person view this?

I see other iptv or radiostation that include /reflectorort at the end of mms://ip/publication. How can i configure this for me and listen on Reflector?
I have proved a lot of forms with no results... The last one is this:

Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition

Media Server stream in multicast over 239.1.1.1 port 4444.
Reflector Service with "ReflectorService.exe.config" edited from original:
- JoinPort" value="8083"/>
- UnicastRTPListenPort" value="4444"/>
- MulticastInterfaceIP" value="192.168.2.150"/>
- MulticastInterfaceIP" value="192.168.2.150"/>
Venue Service install with configure in 239.1.1.1 port 4444. (I think that this service i don´t need for this but i installed it too).

Whe i try to connect to reflector over internet with this line:
mms://server/publication/reflector:4444 it is trying to connect to reflector for a while, but doesn´t and then jump to send me the video through unicast like i put the same but without /reflector.

I´m trying to do something imposible or there is a for to make that. Can you help me please?

Get CXP to work in hosted environment

Hi all

We are in the process of implementing CXP (preferrably 4.0) in an environment where the servers are centrally published (from a data center) and where the conference users are connecting (over internet 1) from home. The idea is for them to be able to get education at a distance, since they are all people with all sorts of disabilities.

The setup we are using:

All servers are on Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 Beta2
Virtual servers are on dedicated IP addresses, domain members, Windows 2003 R2 Standard Ed. and both virtual servers are using the same physical network interface
Everything is published through single ISA Server 2006 Standard Ed.
Venue service is accessible
Reflector service is accessible (two people are listed in the reflector service user list)
People can enter the created venue, they however cannot see each other.
Port 80 is published (forwarded) to the venue service
Ports 8083 - 5004-5005 7004-7005 are forwarded to the reflector service
Same issues when reflector service is running on the venue server as well as on a different server (virtual server)

The main issue is that two people can enter the same venue, are registered as user with the venue service, but cannot see each other.

Is there an issue with virtual server?

Could there be another issue?

Reflector not working properly!!!

I am working in unicast-only network. I've Reflector on a machine different from the one from which I'm running ConferenceXP. I did specify the IP of the machine running the reflector in the settings of ConferenceXP. But I have a problem. When I want to join the CXP signal 1 venue, using the reflector on my machine, only my window video comes up; however when I choose the conferencexp-reflector.commons.internet2.edu I get both my window video and the other one to. Why is that? I've checked the event viewer file for Reflector Service and request to join/ or leave the venue are there.
In other words what should I do to get conferenceXP running using the reflector?
Another question not related to this issue: I've seen sometimes that a black video window opening what might be the cause?

My network folks are trying to run down why, when we try to use the conferencexp-reflector.commons.internet2.edu (192.148.244.144) reflector from on campus, we get zero network traffic back. Yet when I try it from off-campus (for example, my comcast.net connection at home), it seems to work.

What my network folks want is for me to connect to another reflector while they are monitoring the connection. My question:

do you know of another CXP reflector that I can connect to?

Hi guys!

I want to connect to the venue from home.

I have all services (venue, reflector, archiver) installed in my lab at the university. Everything works perfectly if I test the connection locally (within the lab).

When I tried to connect from home, it's a mess. From home, I can see everyone in the venue, I can hear and the picture quality is good. But the people in the venue (who connects from the lab) are not able to see me (the picture quality is bad, full of blocks etc) and are not able to hear me (the sound quality is choppy).

So my question is: is there any way to solve this problem?

If I need to open some ports, which ports should I open/close at the venue server, reflector server, and archive server?

Hi there!

It surprised me to see the new change on the conferenceXP site. What happens to those old threads from the forum?

Anyway, could you tell me how to check whether an installation of the reflector service is working or not? Which ports should be opened to allow the reflector service to accept connection from a unicast network?

This is my current situation:

I would like to connect to a venue that I installed at my university from home.

Everything (teleconference and archiving) works perfectly if I connect to the venue from within the university, therefore I assume that my university LAN has a multicast capability.

But when I try to connect to the venue from outside the university's LAN (ex: from home, across internet1), the archiving service does not receive any stream at all (both video and audio).

Based on this, I think the data stop somewhere, but I don't know how to trace it. My network administrator said that port 5004,5005,7004 and 7005 are open. Any suggestion on how to trace this?
