Length of time for virus scan ridiculous

My onecare virus scan has been running continuously for 24 hours!!! It is still only 90% complete. Why is this taking so long?

Am using HP laptop with Windows XP have an internal hard drive, external hard drive, and thumb drive plugged in.

I signed up for live care and it is dead care, Antivirus Pro came into my computer and even in safe Mode internet explorer will not work

Nothing works even in safe mode as antivirus pro has blocked internet explorer and most functions. I can get on the internet from safe mode on my stock checker but nothing else woks, pro blocks everything.

I May have viruses in my home computer,am using computer at Library.Need to acquire phone numbers to talk to a techy so I can be at home with techy to troubleshoot my problem. I need help in removing Pcdocpro 5 from my pc. it starts automatically on boot up and makes my cpu 100 %
i downloaded it mistakenly from below link,[Removed], later i found it banned by WOT.

I have been trying for three days to solve a "blue screen" problem on windows xp home edition. the error message has been telling me "corrupt software or hardware has been installed" remove any newly installed programs.

I have had problems with this virus. Trojan:win32/Alureon.CT. it seems that Windows Live OneCare can not contain or remove this
from my computer. What Should i do? Also i made backup disks. A few months back using WLOC. If I put them in will it unable me
to delete the files I have now and go back to 6 months ago.

I am currently experiencing problems with my other laptop. As i searched for a topic on google my computer crashed with a virus, it told me to "immediently download security tool". I do have windows one care on my computer but now i cannot access it because i downloaded this security tool. Was this the correct thing to do, or what should i have done. There is still a box in the bottom right hand corner saying "trying to access credit card details". Could you advise me on what to do

a security tool keeps popping up had problem getting my computer to start this morning i beleive it is a virus trying to trick me to this alert as it is not showing me from live one care it wants me to use its system as it is telling me i am effected with all these virus????? My version of one care keeps shutting down the malware and virus protection. Its a pain in the but to delete and redownload constantly. Is this a virus issue or just a program glitch? I dont know if its related but explorer started crashing about the same time. Thank you for any help or advice in fixing this.

I'm getting a red alert that Windows automatic updates are turned off. But when I try to turn it back on it just stays red.
It was "green" and fine earlier this afternoon. So, what's up with that??? I've tried OneCare's automatic fix and it just tells me "fixed failed". I'm at a loss here. Can someone help?

apparently I have gotten some sort of virus that has killed my One Care, the icon is red and when I try to start it, it briefly flashed yellow, then immediately back to red.

I have tried to restart the service thru the services.msc, which always worked before. I have used the online scanner and it says I have something called 'win32/Ursa!rts' and under that 'sdasetup.exe' 2 times.

I have uninstalled the windows live one care and re-installed and it will now only crash and send an error report.

I have tried scanning with malwarebytes, spybot search and destroy, and tried trend micro's online scanner, none of them show anymore virus

I am a novice to computers, what the experts tell me I do "untill it go's wrong, like "norton" & "mcAfee" but with "onecare" over the past two years I have been trouble free, but this seems to be one, they car,nt find so here go's the best I can,
The P.C seem,s to run fine (I,m doing this) but also the mouse curser arrow and the internet connecting circle is going a hundred to the dozen, the the whole lot "freezes" for proberbly half a minute, and will continue doing this, through out the time on the P.C., also trying access mail, well, click on the mail tab, (go and have a cup of tea) then see if you have any mail, if it's got that far, ah! I also have CC Cleaner on board to look after the registry, can any one help with this one please? eer? slow and easy one step at a time, at 65 the old grey matter, is jussst getting a bit foggy, my thanks for help any one Tellymick

I went into the windows live one care support log and it showed that "windows live one care could not clean a threat on your computer" . The threat name was :trojandownloader.ASX/WIMad.AZ(80508019). dated 10/11/2009. What is this? I have had to spend $60 already to have HP remove a trojan virus, and this has been since I had ONECARE! I use limewire and I did see where one care detected and removed a virus. I have decided to not use limewire. However, what do Ido about the threat onecare was not able to remove, and what is going to happen to my computer?

A virus or bug of some sort has disabled or deleted all my media software, I have no sound, no video player will work, even my display settings have gone away and am running on a default minimum. The wallpaper has turned to a banner saying "Warning fatal error All media systems or your computer have crashed or corrupted." and has a link to a suspicious looking page where it wants me to update my codec by paying $80.

I ran one care a few times now and it seems to catch something new everytime. I need to know is there anyway I can clean the system without having to do a full reinstall.

I use Windows One Care, and somehow this "protection program" I purchased from microssoft did not prevent Alpha AntiVirus from installing on my computer. This Alpha cannot be deleted through usual means, not by remove software and not by one care. Alpha tries to prevent me from viewing web pages, it constantly pops up wanting me to purchase this malevent program. I purchased One Care to prevent this from happening. Please help!!!

I run Windows XP with Windows Live One-Care, all software updaed automically.

SPAM emails sent to my Yahoo address are somehow resending themselves to my total address list. Note that I have deleted them without opening. Note also that I ran the Windows Live One virus scan on total computer, and found nothing.

How do I stop this?

Hi. Every time I reboot, my Live One Care icon turns red and tells me that my automatic updates option has to be turned on. I have to manually turn it on every time. Why? I've tried to make sure that "Automatic Updates" in the Windows Security Center (under Control Panel) is turned on and that this setting is Applied and OKayed, but that changes sometimes too. I have also gone into the run command and typed in services.msc to make sure that all my Live One Care settings are started and automatic. Why does my dumb balloon keep going red? What else do I have to do to make sure that my automatic updates are automatically on?

Onecare keeps alerting me that automatic updates are turned off. After turning the service on (either through onecare or services.msc) it will turn off after a few minutes. I am also getting annoying pop-ups now. I know I have a virus of some sort, but onecare can't find it. Any suggestions?

Live OneCare lack of detailed information about threats

On Oct 23 Onecare reported that I had a trojandownloader on my machine. It also then reported a trojan and requested removal which I granted. Both these two files seemed to show up from no where and after I granted removal I can't find any kind of history to look up what trojan it was. Tonight another trojan suddenly appeared out of the blue while the machine was unattended. Again I granted removal and now I can't find any history log or anyway to tell where these are coming from. I didn't write down the names of the trojans and I shouldn't have to. They should be logged somewhere. I did find the trojan downloader still in the quarantine. I feel I can't trust OneCare to protect my computer if I don't even have basic information about the threats that suddenly appeared from no where. There does't appear to be any way for me to determine how they could have found there way onto my machine. I am seriously considering purchasing Symantec's latest product and uninstalling Onecare. Are there threat history or log files available that might shed some light on my recent Onecare reported and supposedly removed threats?

I keep getting a request turn on anti virus and anti spyware. However, when I try to do so the "Turn On" is grayed out as though I cannot tun on from the hub. I check my computer (PC FELIX-LAPTOP) but anti spyware and anti virus is turn on. My Live OneCare dialog window indicates that my computer is at risk.
