hey guys, i have no idea where to look for help on this... but i was setting up onecare's backup to my external hard drive, and it asked me if i wanted to format it from fat32 to ntfc (or whatever it is), saying i wouldn't lose my files and it's more secure. so i said ok, it started formating, then it just stopped... i let it sit for a long time, but nothing happened, so i had to restart my computer. now when i turn on my hard drive, it won't show up. it still makes the sound when i connect it, and still shows up as a device, but i can't access it or see any of my files on it. i don't think i need to stress how it important it is that i can get to some of these files, but i wanted to ask if anyone knew of any solutions or programs that i can download...or something... that i can do to access it....

It sounds like the conversion process failed part way through. Don't do anything else as the disk may still be able to recover. There are 3rd party utilities that can help recover files that are still on the drive. Your best bet is to contact OneCare support as it happened when you were preparing to use the drive for backup.
If you are using the 2.0 beta, http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=onecarev2 -use the "Get More Help" link in the lower right of the page to contact support via email.
Support for v1.6 is via the information here - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1183038&SiteID=2
