I cannot even get my computer to load my newly purchased CD ROM. The drive whirrs for a while, and then I get the error message shown in the Subject. If I try to get into the "D" drive from "My Computer", the same thing happens. I am running Windows XP, Home Edition. I just uninstalled Norton Utilities 2005, and so now have no anti-virus protection. Am sending this from another machine. Advice welcome!

If the error persists, you can install from the One Care home page - http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-us/default.htm then use the product key from your CD to activate your subscription. If you are still unable to install please post back or contact support. To contact support - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1183038&SiteID=2

Thanks, JimR1. I just seem to have to go to the One Care home page to install the program. This is true for both computers I have so far installed One Care on. (One to go.) Thanks again. DonVicente

The subject error indicates that you are trying to install on an unsupported operating system. Error 002 is an initialization error, meaning that the installer can't even start.
What operating system are you trying to install on? Is it fully patched via Windows Update and is it XP SP2 or later, 32 bit or Vista?
