Printer sharing between XP 32 bit hub PC and new 64 bit PC using VISTA in onecare circle

I can't share printers attached to 32-bit HP laptop (Hub PC in Onecare Circle) and a new 64 bit HP laptop with Vista.
Onecare knowledge base said that it doesn't support printers between 32bit and 64bit machines.

Any recommendations?

I can not install my HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printer. I can install it with the USB cable but I wanted to use it wireless and I understand Windows Live One Care does not support the wireless aspects. Does this mean that I will have to delete Windows Live One Care.

What can I do.

Had no difficulty of any kind until 4 days ago. Since then ...no printing and many hours.
Have tried all the troubleshooters, re-install, am connected to internet (obviously), other computers are using the net and printing. HP 7460 wireless. Have checked and reset connections to no avail when finaaly got message from 'Windows Live One Care"

This printer can't be shared because OneCare can't get information about this printer. Please make sure the PRINTER IS CONNECTED TO THE PC. Forgive the shouting but wanted to call attention to the fact that it is NOT connected to the PC ... it's on a home network and always has been. Says to get help with automatic printer sharing and that is where I I 'm stumped ... where is that? and can anyone help ... please??? I have already restored to a prvious date .. no help.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop and I'm trying to hook up a canon pixma mp190. I have windows vista home premium and I currently have no printers installed on my computer. The scanner works just fine, I just can't seem to get the printer hooked up. I'm not computer savvy at all so I really need some help...thanks!

I have a HP printer USB connected to a Vista 64 computer. I want to be able to share this printer with a XP Pro computer. I believe I have the networking setup up correctly (I can share files between the two servers). I seem to have a problem with the correct print drivers (32 - 64 bit?) . I can local attach the printer to the XP computer and print fine. But when I try to print from the XP computer to the printer attached on the Vista computer, I get driver errors (i.e. can't find appropriate driver). Any suggestions?

I have a 32 bit Vista Home Premium desktop, a 64 bit Vista Home Premium laptop a XP laptop all using One Care to share an Epson printer. I am looking for suggestions on how I can continue sharing that printer after uninstalling One Care. My printer has a duplexer for double sised printing and that is not possible with the 64 bit laptop. I would like to add that feature if possible. Thanks!

When I print from a PC in my circle to a printer connected to my HUB PC it prints in mirror image. The PC I am printing from uses Vista, the HUB PC uses XP, any ideas on how to fix this?

I am working from a remote location, and can access my office computer with no problem, but I can't seem to find a way to print to a printer attached to the remote computer. It will print to the printer attached to the office computer, but that's not where I am, so I need to find out how to print to the connected printer at my remote site. The remote laptop is running Vista Home Premium X64, and the office unit is running Window XP professional.

My initial subscription to OneCare ends Nov/09, wheresas my wife's ends May/10. I'm understanding we must use the same licence of OneCare in order to be in the same OneCare Circle, which will allow her to print to the USB printer on my PC. Did we make a mistake in purchasing and installing a separate Onecare app on her PC? Must I remove OneCare from my PC, and re-install it using her licence key, thereby allowing us to be in the same circle, thereby allowing her to print to my printer via a wireless network? In reading other posts related to adding PCs into a "Circle", I may not be understanding the difference between the "Product ID and subscription ID" stored in OneCare, compared to the Product Key supplied with the S/W. Is it that we must be in the same Product ID but can have different Subscription IDs?

Server - Windows XP 32 bit - Canon MP370 Printer attached
Laptop - Vista 64 bit
I am trying to install the network printer on my newly acquired Vista 64 bit laptop. When I add try to add the printer from the network it says " The server for the canon MP370 does not have the correct print driver installed".
I have installed the 64 bit Canon print driver onto the Server and the Laptop...but it still wont work?

live onecare printer sharing

I have one wireless printer and two printers connected to a pc and all are being shared by all computers in my live onecare circle. Almost every day at least one of the computers will display the message "Live OneCare has detected a xxxx printer on yyyy PC". it is always the computer that actually has the printers connected. What is causing this problem?

Hi,

When I originally installed onecare on my laptop, i chose it as the hub, and my printer was on my laptop, then added a pc to the circle, so a virtual printshare was set up by onecare from my laptop. since then I moved the printer to the desktop pc and re-chose it as the hub, it worked fine but now my printer is messed up. When i try to print something, onecare chooses the virtualshare from the laptop, which is no longer active, instead of printing from the directly connected printer from the pc desktop. Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling the onecares?

I have set up Live One Care on desktop with XP, and laptop w/Vista. I've shared my HP printer connected to my desktop and it shows up as being shared and available through once care. However, I cannot get anything to print from my laptop to my desktop.

I have a printer connected through a tower with windows Vista and am able to share wirelessly with my wife's laptop which also has vista (it shows on the one care circle).

I have a MacBook Pro. I can access the internet through my router, but I cannot figure out how to print wirelessly?

Laptop-XP Home SP3-Wireless
Desktop 1-Vista-Printer attached
Desktop 2-Vista-Wireless

All three computers are in my OneCare Circle.
Printer Sharing is on for Desktop 1 (and the others also).

When I try to ADD PRINTER from the Laptop, I

select A network printer or a printer attached to another computer
select Browse for a printer
select the printer attached to Desktop 1
receive warning about the automatically installed driver which will follow, click YES
receive error message: "The server for the 'Canon Inkjet MP780 Series' printer does not have the correct printer driver installed. If you want to search for the proper driver, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel and contact your network administrator or OEM for the correct printer driver.

I have tried downloading the driver from Canon, and get no change.

Desktops 1 and 2 print just fine.

Printer sharing stopped working

I have a hub PC running vista ultimate and a kids pc running the same. I have been using the same printer connected to the hub for years with OC running. After initial pain its worked fine.

I had to rewire the office and as a result had to connect the printer from the kids pc. It showed up in the network and worked fine initially with it sharing to the hub pc and even to my work pc which is not in the OC circle, then it stopped completely.

I can still print from the kids pc but it will not show up when i try and add a printer from the hub. I saw the printer ending in OC so i know OC was managing it initially. Any ideas on why OC sees the printer but i cannot print at all?

If OC is not working how do you override it?

I can't seem to share my printers. I have a desktop computer (named HP) to which two printers are connected directly. I can print to them without problem from the HP. The HP is connected to my laptop through a wireless network. I can share files between the two computers but I can't print from the laptop.

My onecare circle includes the HP as a Hub PC and the laptop.

When I click on "Change settings" while viewing my OneCare circle, the "Settings" Window opens. I then click on the "Printer Sharing" Tab to see that the printer sharing check box is checked. If I click on the refresh button for refreshing the list of printers, the only item that shows up is the laptop computer - no Printers. What is the problem?

Windows Mobile Device Center causing message that printer is no longer shared

Virtually every time I connect my HTC Touch Pro to Windows Mobile Device Center, OneCare displays a message that my printer is no longer shared by me (I use a shared printer on another computer in my wireless network) and would I like to share it again.

Is there a way to make this connection permanent and prevent it having to re-share it when I use Windows Mobile Device Center?

OneCare printer sharing makes Word 2007 unusable - (Word hourglass pulsing / flashing / blinking constantly)

On my Windows XP Professional 2002 Service Pack 3 machine, Word 2007 became unusable with the hourglass pulsing constantly. Word would not accept any text entered while the hourglass was on. After many hours and days of diagnosis, I finally traced the problem to two processes that Windows Task Manager showed were taking large portions of CPU Usage: winss.exe (Windows Live OneCare) and spoolsv.exe (print spooler). Stopping either one of these processes would temporarily fix the problem, but the same symptoms returned whenever the machine was restarted.

I finally found the root cause to be printer sharing in Windows Live OneCare version 2.5. Turning off printer sharing fixed the problem completely and Word stays healthy even after system restarts.

To test this fix, open OneCare; in the left navigation pane select "Change settings"; select the tab labeled "Printer sharing", de-select the checkbox for "Automatically share all printers connected to this PC..."; then click the "OK" button.)

What a hassle !

Printer no longer shared

I have two printers connected to my XP machine and have been using them to print from my laptop from the time I first starting using OneCare and its printer sharing feature. One day a couple of weeks ago I could no longer print using one of the printer. Sharing is set up correctly (I believe) and OneCar shows the printer as available. When I attempt to print from the laptop everything seems normal - there is a message "printing page 1" for example, and no indication that the printing has failed. However, nothing appears at the printer.

If I go to "Change settings" in OneCare and do a refresh of the printers the one I want to use is there but has an information message "This printer can't be shared because OneCare can't get information about this printer." I have removed and reinstalled the printer several times and updated the driver several times as well.

None of this has helped and searching the internet has not found this particular message.

Printer sharing

I had to reinstall onecare on my computer. I am not using it as the hub at this time.

There are 4 other computers and 3 printers on the network. I did a printer refresh on my pc's

onecare and it shows the other two printers but indicates no printer connected to my pc.

I can use my pc to print to this HP 1220 printer and so can other pc's on nework.

What gives?

During the installation on Live OneCare on three computers in my home network, the software asked if I wanted to install my HP 2605 Laserjet printer. Mistakenly, I clicked, "yes." What each of my computers ended up with in each installed printers folder were two HP 2605, the original one connected my network and a shared copy seemly connected to one of the other computers on my network. The software had misidentified a network computer as one connected directly to one of the other computers. What followed was not pleasent, since neither printer setup worked. In order to make the printer functional, I had to remove the printer software from each computer and reinstall it. This worked for two of the three. The third computer refuses to take a reinstall, aborting it on two successive files, HPXOP01.exe and HPZRCVO01.exe. Currently, HP does not have anything on this one.

Printer sharing issue

One of my computers previously had a printer connected to it, but now does not. I now have it connected to the computer which is the hub computer for OneCare. The computern it used to be connected to is now just in the circle, and is not a hub PC. I got a message on my Hub PC that the printer was connected to my other computer (even though it is not) and that I can use it. What I would like to know is how i can use my other computer (The non Hub one) to print off documents and such using the printer connected to my Hub PC. I never got a message on my non-hub PC about a printer being connected to my Hub PC.

I hope my question was well worded and did not confuse anyone reading it. Any answers will be appreciated. Thanks.

In the refresh list it says Onecare cannot instal this printer and will keep trying

I recently installed Live One on my notebook and desktop that has a wireless printed connected to the desktop with a USB cable. My notebook, before installing Live One connected to the printer wirelessly without any problems for the past year. Now when I try to print from the notebook a simple one page Word Document will be 12 pages long on the printer with the fonts at least 48. How do I get my notebook to go back and print normally?

I have a Host PC and a Client PC. He Host machine can see and use the HP 812C Deskjet printer on the Client machine but the client cannot connect to the Host machine's HP Deskjet 6940. The error message is "One Care cannot connect to the remote PC." Does anyone have any advice.

Network Magic

I use Network Magic and Windows Live one care. Recently bought a wireless printer HP J6480 and the hardest time getting it to connect wirelessly.

But is working now. Host computer is running windows XP and 2 laptops are Vista. All 3 computers are in my Onecare circle. Printer is connected to my host XP computer.

Here is the problem... when i try to print from either laptop it takes about 1-2 min for it 2 print?? A dialog box always pops up about a min later, and i have to hit apply printer (J6480) everytime i print and then it still takes a good minute to print? i know it is minor but any suggestions would be great. Is thgere some type of conflict between Network Magic and onecare since both programs set up printer sharing automaticcally?

I have been using a simple network of a desktop computer conected to a router and a notebook computer conected to the router via ethernet and at times wireless. It hse been working fine for a number of years until I subscribed to Windows Live One care. I now cannot not ping my own computer or a distant computer but I can ping the router from both of the computers. If I turn off the One Care Firewalls, I am able to ping both computers and the router from both of the computers. However, even when the firewall is shut off I can not share printers or files. I have been working on this problem for days. I believe that I have exhausted everything I can come up with and I have called on a number of others that are exceptional with computer trouble shooting and exhausted their expertise. Anybody have any suggestions?

Please, please help. Had new photocopier with network printer in April and it was working very happily until July. If I call the copier installer they will charge me and they advised me to try this. I have tried turning off the OneCare firewall but the printer still does not print. When I go into the printer control panel and click on the OneCAre icon it says it can't be shared because it isn't supported by Windows Live OneCare. If it isn't supported why was it working very happily with OneCare from April until July? i checked the list and it is not on the unsupported printer list.

The Network is working fine, and it is a cable connection. I know there is a connection because I can download the count information.

Hoping someone can wave a magic wand.

I am running Onecare on my PC. I want to share the printer with other PCs that are "guests" on the home network. For example my work PC, my wife's work PC, my daughters PC when she visits. They all will be connected on my WiFi network. My daughter 's PC runs Onecare but a different subscription. The work PCs do not.

Unable to get Printer Sharing to work

My network consists of the following:

Main: hub XP Home 32-bit wired

Xeon Server: Xp Prof 32-bit wired

Laptop: Vista 32-bit wireless

Printer: HP D5160 connected by USB to Main

All 3 computers have OneCare installed under the same ID. I can print to the HP from both the Main and the Xeon Server. I am unable to print, or even install the HP printer on the laptop.

I have searched the forums and have gone through the steps that were solutions to other people's issues with no luck. I went through the OneCare wiki printer debugging script and still no luck. Network is set up as Home/Private. I am able to access files on the Main from my laptop, but can't find printer. I installed print drivers on laptop and updated print drivers on Main and still no luck.

Finally exhausted everything I could find or think of, so contacted Microsoft OneCare chat help. After spending 45 mins online with them, they said that it is a OneCare limitation that it can not share a printer over a wireless connection. According to what I have read on the forums, that doesn't seem to be an issue, so I'm back at square one.

Since you guys know more than Microsoft Help, could you suggest anything I could try?
