    Hello

We are using MS Project 2007 Professional and are doing Earned value on projects

Project A is almost complete with remaining work of 80 hours and the project actuals has overrun the Baseline so actuals are greater than what was baselined.

Our Baseline (BCWP) is 94,000 hours and the calcualtion of earned value (BCWP) is 95,000 which makes our SPI greater than 1.

Essentially the project is complete, we are just waiting on some approvals from the client so we haven't closed out 1 support task.

When the project is complete is it ok to have an earned value that from a totals hours perspective surpasses the baseline?  and how?

    Thanks

When the project is complete, orthodox EVM would dictate that SPI = 1, or EV/PV =1, or BCWP/BCWS =1.

If you finished early, I could see that BCWP > BCWS in that calculation.  If you pushed the status date out a bit, I would guess they would equal out.  I don't think that you could have BCWP > Baseline Cost and still be done.  That would indicate either a change management issue along the road or that you're not done.
