Dear All
I have issue with baseline (MSP 2010). Below steps have been followed to save the baseline for selected task
Step1: Selected the particular task which needs to be baseline
Step2: Project --> Set Baseline -->
Step3: click OK
Moment I clicked ok i can see baseline work for selected tasks as well as summary tasks then published project.
I have opened same project after 2-3 days and noticed that Baseline work is missing only for task level and not for summary level
Kindly assist me where i was wrong.It happens some other resource for some other projects
Is it product issue ?
Awaiting for your reply

Hi Santosh,
Before I suggest anything just wanted to check on following 2 things :
1) Are you working in Project Server mode?
2) Is this plan created from a template and then baselined?

Are you baselining before you save the file for the first time? I.e. you create the file, baseline, then save?
If so, it could be related to this issue: http://azlav.umtblog.com/2012/04/12/baseline-save-permissions-blocked-in-newly-created-projects/
Weird that it's getting wiped out on tasks but not summaries though. How do you set a baseline? For selected tasks? All tasks? Rollup to the summary is on/off?

Thanks for the reply Andrew
First I have done the baseline for entire project and I have added few tasks and baselined it
Step1: I have selected tasks which has to be baseline in MSP 2010
Step2: clicked Selected tasks (Radio button)
Step3: enabled below two checkboxes
To all summary tasks
From sub tasks into summary tasks
Step4: Project has been saved without any errors
After saving the project i can able to see Baseline work for tasks as well as summary tasks. I opened the same project after 2-3 days and noticed that Baseline work is missing only for tasks and not for summary tasks
this is not regarding baseline rights issue it should be something else
Kindly assist me to rectify this issue

Thursday, May 03, 2012 1:30 PMModeratorNormally this doesn't happen, just out of curiosity wanted to confirm - is the Baseline Work at Summary Task containing this task adding up Work hrs of this task? or is it just sum of other sub-tasks which were previously baselined. Is there a chance that on the said task PM missed adding resource (hence it never had Work hours) or Work hrs. and baselined it. Such things gets missed most of the times when tasks are manually scheduled. Please confirm on total Work hrs on Summary Task.

Dear Sapna
Baseline work at summary task containing this task adding up baseline work hrs
E.g)
Task Name Baseline Work
~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~
Summary Task 20
Task1 10
Task2 5
task3 5
I have done baselining after assigning resources to the tasks
While saving baseline and saving the project am not facing any issues
I have opened after 2-3 days and shocked that baseline work i missing for task level
Task Name Baseline Work
~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~
Summary Task 20
Task1 0
Task2 0
task3 0
Let me know if anything else you need

If you're really having data integrity issues - where the data is getting wiped out of a saved file - I would open a ticket with Microsoft support....assuming you've ruled out any user behavior issues.

Hello Santhu,
I think this may be fixed in the April 2012 CU. See:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2598274
Particularly:
Assume that you open a project that has at least one baseline saved and that is in the Project 2007 format from a Project server. You do not have permission to save protected baselines. Then, you save the project in the Project 2010 format. In this situation, all data in the protected baselines in the project is lost.
Does this describe what you are experiencing?
