I am upgrading from Project Server 2007 to 2010.

Situation - 2007 is on the same server as SharePoint 2007 and is using the same content database, so I have to extract the data for it. I found a technet article that explains how to do that. No problem.

I tried restoring directly to a content database on the new 2010 farm. Worked sort of. I get my projects. Everything is working except that I cannot view documents, risks, issues, etc. File not found. Bulk update is not working. Does nothing.

Question 1. Can it be done this way? A technet article I saw seemed to indicate that you would restore on the same server to create a content db for Project Server and back that up. It leaves certain details out though. For example - you have to first create a new web app. Is it necessary to create a root site as well?

Question 2. How do I create a web application on the new farm to host the PWA site when it will create its own content database?

I just want this new farm to work. This is my first time migrating Project Server and I'm a little lost.

Thanks

    Hi there,

The File not found issue can be fixed by running the bulk update project sites feature. Try it again but this time in the previous site path web application, click the drop down and select the buttom URL (the same URL will be listed twice - select the buttom one), make sure you check the update content types check box too.

    Thanks

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, I've been there and done that with no effect. We're going to start over, this time following the technet article as closely as possible. I did two entries in the previous URL drop-down (looked like two ID's) and I tried it with both. Thanks anyway.

I had a look at the urls in the database that we brought over and used those to update. It worked. The portal is up and running. My thanks to everyone who looked at this and suggested fixes for it. For some reason the bulk update was not working, but this did. Thanks again.
