Project Server 2010 install missing language pack

Hello all.
I recently downloaded a project server 2010 iso from msdn to install on my sanbox. I "unzipped" the iso and ran the executable. The install completed successfully. However, when I attempt to provision a new PWA site, the language dropdown is empty. English should be the only option but it's missing. I went back to the installation folder and attempted to run the English language pack in the PrjSrv.en-us directory with no luck. When I attempt to run the .msi I get the following in the event viewer:
Product: Microsoft Project Server English Language Pack -- Error 1713. Microsoft Project Server English Language Pack cannot install one of its required products. Contact your technical support group. System Error: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=xxxxxx.
I know that I can install the Office Server 2010 English language pack but I don't want to support this separate install. English should just be there. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Hello Lester,
It seems to be a missed or corrupted unzip from the ISO file. Did you try to download the Langusage pack from Microsoft download?
Try to downlaod from the below link
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=3411Language packs enable creation of sites and site collections in multiple languages without requiring separate installations of SharePoint Server 2010, Project Server 2010 & once you run teh setup, make sure to run the Sharepoint technology & Configuration wizard as mentioned in the link.
Hope that helps.

Hi.
Yes, I've thought of installing that. As a matter of fact, I did and I'm sure that it works. The problem is that the package is Server language packs. I only want project server language pack. Otherwise, I'll have to support and maintain that Server language pack. Whenever a new service pack comes out, I'll have to update the server language pack too. It's just a headache that we don't have the bandwidth to deal with.
I opened a premier support ticket so hopefully they can get to root cause so we can move forward.

Hi,
I am having the exact same issue. I am trying to create the initial PWA site but the language dropdown selection is blank and therefore the site creation failes with an error "Input string was not in a correct format."
I tried the above solution of installing the "Office Server 2010 English language pack ". It installed just fine, but I still get the exact same behavior from the PWA site creation form.
Any ideas on what I can do?

Lester,
What language version of Project Server / SharePoint did you install? If it was English, I have never seen that behaviour.
As for your error 1713 above, checking out http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926279 indicates that is by design to stop people running the office suite component msi's outside of the main setup.exe.

Monday, July 18, 2011 12:39 AMI downloaded English installation. I'm baffled on this one. Thanks for finding that KB article. I can now avoid more frustration by hoping one time it will run successfully.
