    I want to create my reports in Project 2007 Pro but see them in Server 2007. Can you upload reports created in Project 2007 Pro into Project Server 2007? Also, my second question is how do you create completely customized reports in Project 2007 with specific fields that I want? I don't see where I can choose each field I want (Resource Name, Work Availability (or Work Variance), Work, Remaining Availability Start/Finish, % complete, Quarter).

    Good questions.  When you use the word report, I assume you mean the reports you can create in Microsoft Project 2007 by clicking Report > Reports.  If that is what you mean, then the answer is no, you cannot upload these reports to Project Server 2007 using any default feature in the system.  The only way you could possible get the reports into Project Server would be to print the report to a PDF document and then upload it to the document library in the Project Workspace for your project.
     
    To answer your second question, again I will assume you mean the reports accessed by clicking Report > Reports.  Keep in mind that a resource report consists of a Table, a Filter, plus optional Details you can select.  Before you can create the custom report, you would need to create a custom resource Table that contains the columns you want.  To create this Table, click View > Table > More Tables > Resource and then click the New button.  Of the columns you list, however, not all of them are available fields for inclusion in the custom Table, including the Work Availability and Remaining Availability fields, for example.
     
    On the other hand, on the Project Server 2007 side of reporting, your Project Server administrator could create a Data Analysis view that would contain some of the fields you want to see in your report.  Hope this helps.

    Oh, one question, since I am now considered the Server Admin., I can't give myself access to use the Data Analysis view right?

    Ok, run into problem already :) When I go under Field Name with the Table Definition popup, there isn't a selection for Task Name. It seems Task Summary Name is not what I want. Any advice? I tried to duplicate the Task Name and put it into a Text1 field but that isn't the best method.

    Hi Cicely:

    Project Server has a reporting database. This database is used for data analysis views mentioned by Dale. But you can also use it to build reports with your favorite reporting tool. It could be for example Excel Services or Reporting Services. It is very common and useful to use.I hope you find it useful.

    If you are the Project Server administrator, you automatically have the ability to create Data Analysis views.  If you are NOT the Project Server administrator, then you CANNOT create Data Analysis views.  Hope this helps.

    Because you are creating a Resource report, you can only add Resource fields to the report, and cannot add task fields.  If you want to see the tasks listed in your custom Resource report, when you create the actual report, click the Details tab in the Resource Report dialog and then select the Schedule checkbox in the Assignment section of the page.  I will warn you that the report will not be beautiful, but it will show you the tasks to which each resource is assigned.  Hope this helps.

    I hit delete by accident.

    I see my newly created table under the Resources. However,  the apply button is grayed out completely. I can click on Tasks and the apply button appears.  I can't find it under  Report>Reports and each one under there but don't see it. I also checked Report>Visual Reports as well and I don't see it. I included my newly created entry as a Global as well as for this specific project.  Am I doing something wrong?

    The FIRST step is to create the Table to display the columns you want to see.  If you have a Task view applied when you create the Resource table, that explains why the Apply button is grayed out.  If you apply any Resource view, such as the Resource Sheet view or the Resource Usage view, you can then apply the custom Table.
     
    The SECOND step is to actually create the report by clicking Report > Reports.  In the Reports dialog, double-click the Custom button, click the New button, and then create a new Resource report.  As you create the custom report, you can select your new custom table and display the Schedule details as well.
