Hi, I am trying to upgrade wss 3.0 to sharepoint 2010. Previous developer installed project server 2007 trial license and serveral sharepoint sites used "Microsoft Office Project Workspace" in old environment. I upgraded by attach contentdb to sharepoint 2010 env and tried to access sites that used "Microsoft Office Project Workspace" and check the results, some of the list displayed OK, some list I got "An unexpected error has occurred." like "Risk" list. The reason why I got these errors is I don't have MS Project 2010 installed in 2010 server.

To resolve the error above, I have to install MS-Project Server 2010 and I have the following questions.

    1. Since the current environment (WSS 3.0 with project server 2007 trial version) that where I migrate from only use "Microsoft Office Project Workspace" template for couple of sites and they don't use any other features from Project Server. Don't you think that I can install project server 2010 trial version in new environment just to get the site that used "Microsoft Office Project Workspace" working properly.

My concern is what will happened after the trial project 2010 expired, will the site that used "Microsoft Office Project Workspace" site template in new environment working property? BTW, the current environment/site that used project server 2007 was trial version and somehow that site that use "Microsoft Office Project Workspace" site template still function properly, is this the same case for project server 2010 trial license?

    2. Can I install MS Project Server 2010 trial license on SharePoint Production server (We got Volume License for SharePoint 2010)?

    Thanks

    Tee

    Hi there,

I will jump straight to the 2nd query as unfortunately this will stop you being able to install Project Server 2010 Trial, you can't mix licensed software with trial software, as your SharePoint 2010 farm is licensed you will not be able to install the trial version of project server 2010 into the same SharePoint farm. You will need the licensed version of Project Server 2010 if SharePoint 2010 Enterprise is licensed.

    Thanks
