Multiple people assigned to the same task in PWA

I am running Project Server 2010 and sharepoint 2010 server. We are using PWA and trying to let it be our base since we are not doing sophisticated scheduling, costing, etc. My question is:
1. If i put a task in PWA and I assign two people (resources) to it and one of them sends an update of % complete on that task, will it update PWA and also refresh the other persons task within their My Work area? We noticed that when one person sent in 30% complete, it showed up in the project itself but the other persons My Work did not show the task as now being 30% complete. Is this somethiing that can be done with some configuration change, etc.. or is this a limiation of the product?

Hi there,
It depends on various factors.
For example if you have a tak with 8 hrs of work and if you assign two resources. Then total work on the task will be 16 hrs and by default each resource can be allocated with 100% max unit. Hence if resource 1 set % work complete as 50% then remaining work for him will be 4 hrs but for resource 2 it will be still 8 hrs
You can simulate this by using Resource Usage view, Resource sheet and by adding necessary columns.

Wednesday, April 18, 2012 3:42 PMThanks for the feedback. My problem, and it may just be me not understanding, is that when person 1 puts in 100% complete, it shows up in the PWA project task as only 50% complete because the other person is 0% complete with their part? is that how it works? The person only sees their part of the work?

Cletus51 --The answer to your question is no. When one of the two assigned resources reports progress on the task, Project Server 2010 DOES NOT update the Percent Work Complete for the other resource. In the Project Server 2010 system, each resource is responsible for updating progress on his part of the task work. In fact, there is no way to make the system work otherwise. Hope this helps.Dale A.
