how do I get an .exe out of a .cpp?

  A .cpp is a C++ source file. When this is part of a project and compiled it becomes a .exe (an executable). I can't really say "do this" to the .cpp file as it may just be a class.
  
  However, this is beyond the scope of this forum which is to do with the Microsoft Ramp Up program (http://www.myrampup.com). Maybe your should try a C++ oriented forum. They will be able to steer you down the right path.

  Its actually linker that converts the compiled code to .exe.
