Beantwortet C# Forums style

    The C# forums are now narrower and the font seems lighter. It's painful to look at it. When I look at "My Threads" or the "Forums Issues" forum, it looks more professional and it doesn't make my eyes cry.

    Is there a way to display it like it was before?

    It's not just the C# forums. I'm afraid you're seeing the "future" in forums page layout (ironically, not here yet).

    The most frustrating thing about the new format (to me, anyway) is the waste of horizontal screen space. On my laptop, ~40% of my screen width is wasted, while I have to scroll vertically ALL THE TIME to see multiple posts in a thread, or even read one moderately long post. In this forum's old format, I can easily read 2 - 3 short posts without having to scroll at all.

    Rant mode on.

    When I first saw the new format, my reaction was "OMG, they've Metro-ized the forums!". I may be incorrect in characterizing it that way, but it reminds me of the Windows 8 Metro apps that insist on filling the entire monitor screen with no option to resize the display. My desktop uses a 27" monitor. Why? So I can run multiple apps concurrently and see multiple windows easily.

    Can you link to a specific forum?

    There are different branding designs in different forum sections... Microsoft, MSDN, and TechNet, for example.

    If the forum is only in one brand, then the answer is "No".

    The two I used the most:

    I have removed the most aggressive effects with a custom css, but I'm not good enough in that domain to make it a pleasing read.

    And no custom css can turn things on for other users. So italics and bold are now totally useless. If I'm not wrong, underline is the only style you can use now.

    Yes. These are "by design", based on branding. You can suggest a change in the Suggest forum (link above) or click the Site Feedback pages on those pages and give your opinion in those random surveys that pop up.

    Do not know. The nature of "By Design" issues is that they don't get fixed, because they aren't broken. That said, the more the community complains about them, the more pressure there is to improve them.
