URLs changing when forum threads moved ?
-
Tuesday, February 03, 2009 5:24 AMI've had a couple of cases recently where a post has been moved by me and then the poster re-posted it because he isn't aware of where it had gone to.I've also had a case where a poster got an alert for a moved post and then the URL in that alert e-mail didn't work.Today I asked a poster to start a new thread and when he did so I added the URL of that new thread to my post in the original thread. I then moved the new thread because it had been posted in the wrong forum. The URL that I had added in the original thread did not work and was completely different to the URL the thread had in its new location.I.e. It seems very likely that in the past few weeks a change has been made such that threads moved from one forum to another are being given new URLs. This is needless to say a disaster if true.

Can't repro. Seems like it's fixed. If you can repro, please reply in this thread. Thanks!Ed Price (a.k.a User Ed), SQL Server Experience Program Manager (Blog, Twitter, Wiki)
