What kind of file is used to deploy a software package using a legacy installation executable like setup.exe?

.zap file can be used to deploy software through a Group Policy that does not ship with an .msi file. The .zap file is a text file that among other instructions specifies the name of the setup executable.

Use InstallShield to deploy software. It can also help you to generate legacy installation packages.
