All Replies
- No activation with Sprint device, tried with and without #, tried all caps ACTIVATE and all lowe case. Message reply says to cehck that vine is logged in and mobile device is sending to a valid group code with validate number.
- Hello Lonpar,
We have seen an issue with several customers whereby their phone plan allows them to send text messages, however does not allow them to send text messages to short codes. Please send a text message (any text) to this shortcode 65246 and post here what you receive in return. If you do not recieve a response then I would ask that you check with Sprint on your current plan to enable short code use.
Alternatively, I would also look in Vine under Vitals to ensure that the phone number you entered was entered correctly, and you select the proper carrier from the list. I know sprint and nextel are now the same company however things don't work quite right if this is set incorrectly.
Thanks,
Ryan Battle - Nextel Support tells me that there is no way to enable shortcode messages for the BlackBerry 7520.
- I have been having the same issue with my verizon phone. I texted to 65246 and got this back "I'm sorry I didn't understand your message. Please reply HELP for help.
- Hi JJ and Gregg,
We understand that some wireless carriers offer plans that block the use of text messaging a 'short-code' vs a full telephone number. We don't have a work around now other than contacting your carrier to verify your plan allows you to text a short-code.
Thanks,
Chris - Hey Chris,
I see you are very active in this topic... I also have an issue with the Mobile feature of MSN...
I was able to add my phone with no issue using the validation code but when someone tries to send me a MSG via SMS on MSN, they end up getting "This message was not sent because messages can't be sent to this mobile number."
What is odd is;
- Validation code came through just fine to activate
- You can manually send a SMS (#@vmobile.ca Canadian Virgin Mobile)
- We changed the cell number to another provider and all is fine.
Only in the MSN app that it refuses to work... Any help would be nice. - Hi Bikerdude,
This forum addresses issues related to Microsoft Vine only.
For help with MSN Mobile, you might try this link: social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-AU/MSNDirectMobile/threads . If the link doesn't work, try searching for "MSN Mobile" in the Microsoft Forums page.
You might also check the MSN Mobile help link to see if your questions are addressed there: http://info.mobile.msn.com/en-us/faq.aspx .
Cheers,
Anne - Sadly the link you provided has this as the last and final post..
"This forum is in the process of being closed, and is locked to new questions"
I did search in the Forum pages and no one with the specifics that I am encountering.
Sadly, MS makes it very hard to get help with one of their own products. :-( - Bikerdude,
I've been researching your issue and communicating with the MSN Mobile team to see if the MSN Mobile group can help you, and it seems that MSN Mobile does not provide the functionality you are describing.
So, I'd like to get more information about what you are trying to do.
Which MSN application are you using?
Which web site are you accessing to add your phone?
Thanks,
Anne - My problem is with MSN Messenger. I have the Live 2009 version.
Issue is I added the function so people can SMS message me via MSN but for some reason the system keeps rejecting the request with the following error msg.
"This message was not sent because messages can't be sent to this mobile number"
What is odd is I was able to register my mobile via http://home.mobile.live.com/Home.mvc as I did get the confirmation code to register.
But any time someone tries to send me a msg it just keeps failing. Now to remove the possibility it could be just an application issue we tried with 2 other Mobile providers numbers and they worked just fine. This removed the issue that the application is just temp down and pointing to MSN Messenger just not wanting to recognize my number for what ever odd reason.
So again, I was able to register my phone and followed all the steps to activate it from the link above + within MSN but you can never send a msg to it.
We know the SMS part of my phone works just fine as I received the confirmation code and receive regular SMS msg's on it.
What I am looking for is MSN Messenger Team to look at my account and see where the hickup is from so we can get it resolved some way.
Thanks for your help Anne
[edit] Also I do receive the SMS notices that I receive new emails in my hotmail... So the phone seems to be properly registered just not with MSN system :-( [/edit]- Edited bybikerdude221 Tuesday, October 13, 2009 6:25 PMAdded extra information
- Thanks for clarifying the issue, bikerdude.
I am trying to locate the proper channels to get the help you need and will let you know as soon as I hear anything.
Cheers,
Anne - Okay, Bikerdude, I got a response from the Messenger team, and they would like you to address your issue via this Web site:
https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?productKey=wlmessenger&ct=eformts
Typically, you would address your issue to http://support.live.com, however, my contact already checked that site for your issue and found it is not addressed. For future reference, though, this is the site to go to for support with Messenger.
Good luck resolving this issue. You're on the right path now.
Cheers,
Anne
- Thank You Anne
But sadly the link above provides no way to let them know... it's just a mary-go-round never leading me to an exact location to report the issue.
I click on Get More Help http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=WL_Messengerv9&market=en-us#tocE193
Then select Find the help you need http://help.live.com/Help.aspx?market=en-US&project=WL_Messengerv9&querytype=topic&query=Messenger_TROU_FindTheHelpYouNeed.htm
Then Get help from other users http://g.live.com/0HE_TRACKSTAR_ENUS9/86058
It then brings you to http://messengersays.spaces.live.com
On this page there is Contact the Support Team https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?productKey=wlmessenger&ct=eformts&scrx=1
Sadly it brings you back to the main link you provided...
There is no way to report this issue unless I am missing the "SPECIAL" link that would permit me.
I work for an Internet Service Provider, so I stress to people to look carefully with there eyes... so I practice what I preach and litterly can not see where I need to post my question..
Sorry Bikerdude,
Haven't given up hope just yet. I have sent your response to the Messenger team with a request for further action or for them to simply open a direct dialog with you.
I really appreciate your patience thus far, and I hope we can finally resolve this.
Cheers,
Anne- Thanks a bunch Anne...
Maybe someone needs to re look at the Supports Pages also :-) Clean them up a little but not so much that people can't find what they need. - Bikerdude,
I haven't gotten a response from the Messenger team on any further help for you, so I'm going to follow up again and escalate the issue if I can.
I appreciate your patience,
Anne - They haven't contacted me neither...
Thanks for the follow up - Bikerdude,
I think I've finally figured out how you can get to the support request form for Messenger. Try this:
1. Open Windows Messenger 2009.
2. In the "Help" menu, select "Help topics" to open the help file.
3. In the help file at the bottom left, click "Table of Contents" to open some topics in the left-hand bar.
4. Under "Table of Contents" in the left-hand bar, click any topic to open that topic in the right-hand area.
5. At the bottom of the right-hand area, click "Get more help," and the following topic should appear:
****Start topic******
