Where are Crystal Reports merge modules for VS2005?
-
Tuesday, January 17, 2006 2:00 AMAccording to the Microsoft article at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/ms225386.aspx, the Crystal Reports merge modules for Visual Studio 2005 (32-bit version) are located in a file called CrystalReportsRedist2005_X86.msm. The article says the file can be downloaded here: http://www.businessobjects.com/products/dev_zone/net/2005.asp. But the file cannot actually be downloaded there. In fact, that file does not appear to be located anywhere on the Business Objects web site.
The page pointed to by the Microsoft article has this to say about the merge modules: "To deploy Crystal Reports applications for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, please use the Crystal Reports msi available with the install. The merge modules will be posted for download on the Business Objects website when available."
There is no msi file for x86 processors included with the Visual Studio 2005 installation.
Does anyone know where the merge modules can be found?
Thanks in advance,

I don't use merge module currently, just use that report installer as temporary solution.

Wednesday, January 18, 2006 6:08 PMI can not find these merge modules too. But I have found a reditribute installer in this path:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\BootStrapper\Packages\CrystalReports\CRRedist2005_x86.msi
which, at least, can make client machine running reports. :-/ -

Ruxo,
Thanks for providing the location to that redistributable. Which merge module did you include in your application to get the reports to run?

Thursday, January 19, 2006 8:25 PMThe merge module mention is to upgrade CR to .Net Framework 2.0 but doesn't include other msa's.

Friday, July 18, 2008 5:14 PMI think those forum thread at least partially answers your question
http://forums.msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/vscrystalreports/thread/be1b2e7c-1dba-493e-9e8d-bd1359654332
they're supposed to be here
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-downloads
but there is an issue with the search functionality as posted here
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/forum?forumID=313
and possibly this is the direct link you're looking for here?

Saturday, July 19, 2008 4:35 PMThank you very much, cr_net_2005_mm_mlb_x86.zip is for cr 10 solo product, or the cr integrated into the vs.net 2005?
I am using the vs.net 2005's cr,not an independent CR product.
I am looking for the package to make the cr report could be seen in the client machine by .net framework 2.0.
cr_net_2005_mm_mlb_x86.zip is the right thing to do that?
by the way , what's means of the _mm_mlb?

Ivan

It took forever, but I finally found the CrystalReportsRedist2005_X86.msm at the following address:
http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/additional_downloads/runtime.asp#07
This is at 12th August 2008- Proposed As Answer by neonprimetime Wednesday, August 13, 2008 5:07 PM

Tuesday, August 19, 2008 4:02 AMYet one more location 5 days later:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-downloads
Which takes you to a link with some session encoded url where you can download.
The SAP/Business Objects sites are really a mess right now, with gazillions of broken links. I spent probaby 4 hours locating this file. They'll probably keep changing the url to make sure that anyone with a low threshold for frustration doesn't try to use CR. A strategy that might help: find the .NET developer forum, and there is a sticky post there about where to track down what from Business Objects. -

Wednesday, September 16, 2009 9:27 AMI am totally lost. Using visual studio 08. assemblys 3.5.0.0 i am trying to deploy a CR Report to a server hosting my site. Im not sure how to configure the config.sys and not sure what i need to install on the server for my CR Report to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated... -
Wednesday, September 16, 2009 5:19 PMI might be able to help you but drop me a line directly: http://mwtech.blogspot.com
Incidentally, if you're trying to deploy a CR report to a shared server (ie. one of those low-cost ones) it's impossible. Trust me, I've tried!
