its the weirdest thing.. I check the task manager to see if anything is working so i can try and stop it, but nothing is there..
I cant watch a movie with my child anymore because every now and the these commercials start to come on. Its annoying and i have windows live onecare and it doesnt show anything wrong with my comp. can u help me ?? where is this coming from and why cant i delete this ??

Hi,

my laptop is Toshiba, windows vista home premier edition. when we got it, there wasn't a disc for reformation use come with the laptop, but didn't realize maybe it should of. anyway, lately, my laptop had virus, and i want to reformat it, but none of my friends sure what and how to do it.

will reformation will kill all the virus? and is this to do with my computer on line speed as well?

since i just downloaded the new windows live messenger , which is around few mins ago whenever i login i get a error pop up or something like that saying "windows live communications platform has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience" something like that .

Hello to everyone!

I just saw a video in youtube about Bing and its capabilities and it was really interesting. I think that has many chances to beat the Google but the most difficult part is to beat the prejudice that most people have. Anyway, after watching the video I tried it myself but I was surprised to find out that the side bar on the left which was shown on the video and classifies the results wasn't there. It worked only when I searched for some photos and it gave me some choices to group the results by size etc. Is this because of the beta?

yesterday, i input my pen-drive to my computer & lots of viruses were found frm pen-drive. I tried to format, but can't. Then I restart my computer and it said that one of the file of windows is missing or corrupt. So, I re-installed my Windows and I got everything back except the pictures. All songs & files are ok, but pictures are missing. The picture folder is showing empty.

What can I do now to get back the pictures? Is it possible??

web views differently in Firefox

In EW2, my site, www.deepcreekyachtclub-tn.org previews OK in both IE and Firefox. However, sometimes, but not always, the spacing is all skewed when viewed online in Firefox--some centering (for tables) is OK, but other sections, "Welcome" and hyperlinks are not centered, and everything has too much space to the right side. Online spacing is always OK in IE. However, this problem only occurs on my laptop running Win XP Home, not on my husband's desktop computer, also using Win XP

I am puzzled why this site looks correct on Firefox sometimes, and other times is all "off". I've tried clearing the cache but that doesn't seem to make any difference (does it take a long time to take effect?) i.e. yesterday spacing in FF looked off, I cleared cache, no change, but today the site looks all right on FF. But that still doesn't explain how it gets skewed in the first place.

This has turned out to be three questions; each one is a puzzlement. Thanks for any answers or insight

Live One Care Backup

Hi..I just completed a complete backup of my "C" drive to a new external drive (WD Notebook Essential 750 gb) using Windows Live One Care. When I checked the external drive (F: drive) under "My Computer", all the files are zipped under one folder (55.1 gb) and they're all labled "Part 1"...all the way up to "Part 1175". How can I get the "F" drive to "mirror" or look just like the file arrangement on my "C" drive so I can get into all folders and sub-folders? In other words, I would like the F drive to look exactly like the C drive. Please advise.

live.com NOT passing correct referrer

this has been reported on numerous forums already, and i'm not certain that someone at MSFT is aware of the issue.

the live.com search engine is NOT passing correct referrers to the web servers reached from live.com search results.

typically the referrers we get are:

http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=photo

when the actual search was: "photo of the golden gate bridge"

(that's an example).

i.e. the query term indicated in the live.com referrer only contains ONE word, not the entire query, and further more, all the other parameters included in the actual referrer page (e.g. page number, language of search etc) are not passed.

for example:

if i reach my website from

http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=san+francisco&first=31&FORM=PERE3

the referrer i get is:

http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=san

this is not good. it is really important for webmasters to get access to the correct referrers, in order to know what search terms bring the traffic.

There are a lot of reasons why sites don't get indexed or don't have the depth (number of pages indexed) webmasters would like. One of the big challenges is ensuring that the sites linking to them are quality sites. As a webmaster, you need to ensure not only that there is great content on your site, but that you get the right kind of people and sites linking to you.

You will see me answer this a lot in the forums, because there are a few common mistakes that webmasters make. For a site to be indexed, it must meet specific standards for content, design, and technical implementation. Ensure that your site follows our indexing guidelines. there is a program on my computer called registry cleaner. i have tried repeatedly to delete from the computer to no avail. in the add and remove section, when highlighted and asked to remove, it sends a pop up message stating it is sorry that I have asked to delete it from the computer and then states tha tif I want to keep it and pay for it on a yearly basis they will give me a five dollar coupon. It ask me if I want the five dollar coupon now, yes or no. I as redirected to their site to sign up and given no other opportunity to with draw.

My site has been online since Oct 2008 and has not yet been indexed by Live. It has been on Google and Yahoo since Dec-Jan and now even on Ask, so why not Live?

We are a long establised business called Yorkshire PC in Bradford UK. We so far have campaigned locally with leaflets. But only recently when we started advertising on the web, our site http://www.yorkshirepc.com is already showing on google & google maps and yahoo, but I'm wondering why MSN is not allowing us to advertise? Also how do I add terms such as computer repair bradford uk or yorkshire pc or bradford pc repair into microsoft's search, so that I come up on msn search engine?

All I get is "no data available" for my site http://www.craniosacral-moving.at in the site summary of the webmaster center.

It is now more than half a year, since I went online, and made myself known to MSN, but no change in status. Google and Yahoo all rank me well.

Can it be, that the Google Meta-Tag prevents me from being indexed?

I am looking for results, but sofar MSN has failed to deliver!

Our website www.keepsakes-etc.com gets zero traffic from MSN Live search. We get great traffic from the other 2 major engines. We have about 2,000 pages and have been on the net since January 2000.

I have been utilizing the Live Search Webmaster tools and everything looks good. But - still no traffic. We are a Yahoo Store and the sitemap is created by Yahoo www.keepsakes-etc.com/sitemap.xml - We have this sitemap in Live Search webmaster tool - I wonder if this is the problem.

When I type keepsakes-etc or Keepsakes Etc in live search a lot of the sites that link to me come up, but our site does not.

Any help would be appreciated – I must have done something wrong.

Unable to install Windows Updates

I get this error when i try and download the latest Win updates...

Windows update encountered an unknown error

Ive been online to try and resolve this, but the options given to me by the microsoft online helpline does nothing as all their advice is as per what my settings should actually be.
I dont know if its relevant, but its also stopped letting me defrag the hard drive. I also purchased O&O Defrag (Stand alone defrag prog) to see if that helps, but it refuses to budge the defrag into action either.
So, any advice would be superb.

Hi, Im havin a problem with my screen turning off, it turns its self off randomly in game play, as if it's not being used. i've turned off sleep mode an it still does it. has anyone else had this problem? my PC is a HP pavilion, with monitor HP w1907v. I cant work it out.

Question About Windows 7

I've been hearing that windows vista users whom bought the earlier version of vista would receive a free version of windows 7 as an apology for messing up vista. I am not sure if this is true or not so I would like to know if it is or not. I am a windows vista user and the system has problems. I would really like to upgrade to windows 7 so i don't haft to deal with the bugs on vista. otherwise, I just lost $500 for this comp...

I run windows XP service pack 3 and automatically receive updates. Whenever I open Outlook express and try tp print an email I receive the following message:

I found this worked for me:
I have xp sp3

The file wlcomm.exe is found in the directory
c: program files\windows live\contacts

Right click and go to properties

select compatibility

**MUCH CHECK BOX /Disable visual themes

I was then able to log into MSN messenger 2009.

NO NEED TO REBOOT COMPUTER.....

Number of Backlinks displayed is only 1- 20

Seeing the backlinks to my web site at MSN Webmaster Center is great. There is a lot of useful information there. However, all I can see is 1 -20 of 313. There does not seem to be a button to see the rest of the links. It would be boring indeed to have to download and then read the .CSV. Is this a glitch or am I missing something?

Page ranking went from page 1 to 13... What happened. Is it because of random backlinks?

We are using the Webmaster Center Site list function. And, to our surprise,, (How do we get rid of unrelated random back links?) Is this why we can't be found anywhere near the first few pages when we do a search using the search term " Orlando Transportation " anymore?. In the past, it was very close to position #1. Please advise.   :(

I have two websites for which I'm trying to use an HTML meta tag for verification. Windows Live Search Webmaster Center has given me the same content authorization code for both - thus the second one errors out. Has anyone had this problem before? How can I get a unique authorization code for the second website? I've tried deleting and readding, and that didn't work.

data execution prevention error with windows blinds

Hi all, I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with this.

I have an HTPC (home theatre PC) which runs XP. I want to make it look more like Vista and I succeeded. I used to have Vista on it, but I wasn't happy with how it ran so I've gone back to XP. Anyway, I googled "making XP look like Vista" and there are a few good guides. It was basically two or three steps. One changes all the icons so they use the nice modern icons from Vista (like the transparent recycle bin and the large paper folder pictures for folders etc.). Second step is changing mouse pointers. That all worked perfectly.

The last step was more a big deal. I had to get "Windows Blinds", and then there was a user made theme called "Arrow" which does the rest of the work for me. It made the windows transparent, and it gave me a black glass looking taskbar. I really love it. The only real issue I have, is that from time to time, I get a "Data Execution Prevention Error". I used to get these very occasionally, but now they seem to happen more since I had Windows Blinds and this theme loaded. Obviously a solution is to just unload Windows Blinds, but I really would like to keep this theme if possible. So my questions are as follows:

1) Is this error just a quirky compatibility issue, or is the error showing up because something harmful is happening/trying to happen?

2) Either way, is there a way to prevent or avoid this error? Either by stopping the error or by fixing what causes the error in the first place?

3) Does anyone know of another way of changing the colour of the taskbar without using third party software?

4) Does anyone know of any other themes that make it look like Vista but are less buggy. This one is really good but there are 3 small bugs I've found so far. One is this crash. Another is that the red X to close windows, sometimes stops responding (so you just have to use file-->close instead). And lastly, the transparency means that sometimes when you use a drop down menu, the menu flashes/flickers. They are all things I am happy to live with, even the data prevention error, but obviously if I can find a better solution, I would like to.

I have website which is targeted at Ukraine, Although it is hosted in Russia. Is there any way to change targe country in webmaster tools from Russia to Ukraine. I found the following note in help, but I do not see how it can be emplemented.
