Is Translation supported?

The documentation specifies that tranlation is supported[1]. However, when I create a proxy from [2], I don't see any support for translation. Is there a newer version of the wsdl?

Bing API php library

This is a small library to help keep redundancing at minimum level. I tried my best to made it easy to use and if I can pull it off there will be more functionality besides what it got in a near future :)

Requirements are just php5 and cURL, keeping an eagle eye on bing.com's api :)

C# - Join SourceType resultset to TableAdapter?

Anyone give me a hand here? I'm doing a PhoneBook SourceType query and I want to do left outer join on the resultset to a datatable based on PhoneNumber and be left with a single dataset I can present in a grid to the end-user.

The results from the Live Search is basically a collection (as I'm sure most of you know) -- but I was looking for a way to create a DataRelation between the search resultset and a datatable. Anyone know how to do this?

The way I was thinking of is: Create a new datatable in memory and copy the results from the search then do the datarelation from this memory table to my SQL populated datatable..

But, I'd rather not go through that interim step if possible, having to loop through each result and creating a new table.

Is there any easy way to copy or clone the search results to a datatable? Or a way to directly establish a datarelation or join between the search results and an existing datatable?

no spelling suggestions with language:en?

Hi,

It seems that no spelling suggestions are provided when the query includes the search term "language:en".   For example, the query:

      comming

gets a spelling suggestion, but the query:

        comming language:en

does not. Here are the URLs of the API requests:

Am I crazy, or does the phonebook results not return ZIP codes? I have tried several searches and and the postalCode property is always blank on my results. Any ideas?

Is it possible to use the API to create a search engine that returns results that are limited to pages hosted on a given list of domains.

For example: Let's say you have 1000+ domains that you are interested in. A user goes to your website and submits a query. Using the API, you send a query asking Live.com to return results that are hosted at the aforementioned domains only.

I have an idea for building a search engine using Live Search API. I would like to display a small amount of cached data from each site alongside each corresponding search result. However, I fear that the following statement from the terms of use might prohibit this:

"You will not ... [intermix] Live Search results with search results from other sources, or intermixing with Live Search results any other content so that the other content appears to be part of Live Search results."

Am I not allowed to do this under the terms of use? What if I were to display the results in two columns, clearly marked "my cached data" and "Live Search results", so that it is clear that my data is not part of the search results?

Language selection in web search

Hello

I cannot find a way to restrict the web search results to a given language in the API. I don't see any adequate parameter, and I tried to add, for example, language:en to the query (e.g. query=chat+language:en) but the API keep returning results in French (probably based on my IP location). Adding Options=DisableLocationDetection does not improve the situation.

I would appreciate any hints.

Site Searching with SOAP

I'm trying to setup the following with SOAP -->

request.query = "site:schoolsuccessonline.com school success"

The above fails with 0 results. However the same query on search.live.com returns 109 results.

If I replace the domain with Microsoft.com -->

request.query = "site:microsoft.com school success"

The above returns 1730 results. The same query on search.live.com returns 67,100 results.

Why does the SOAP VB code not work correctly? Is it because the sourceType is set to Web? What types should I be searching? Or if this is not the issue anyone have any great ideas?

Is App ID Specific to LiveSearch Version?

I have written some help topics that show how to consume an external web service using LiveSearch 1.1b as an example. Some people using the sample and calling the LiveSearch service are receiving the following error. In one case, after replacing the Application ID they were using with my Application ID, it worked. So my question is: are application IDs specific to the LiveSearch version? If you sign up for an Application ID now and use it when calling the 1.1b service, will it still work?

My image folder has encrypted by EFS (Encrypting File System) in windows Xp.
I don't know key EFS it very importantce, so i format driver and intalls win 7.
now, i can't access my file.
EFS in XP used user and password. because time to time i don't memory this!

in file property, i see current owner is 'S-1-5-21-1645522239-602162358-725345543-1003'.

feed: keyword not working?

Hi,

The feed: keyword does not seem to be working. It works on live.com, but it does not seem to work on the live search api. The following queries give no results:
    feed:nba
    feed: nba
    nba feed:
I searched this forum and saw that the keyword feed was not working on Feb 25 but was fixed on Feb 28. Perhaps the same problem has reappeared?

Exluding Dynamic Section of the site

I am running a search here

I am running a query on parislasvegas.com, and trying to exclude all addresses with "EventsDetail.do" as part of the URL string.

As you can see, when I run the query, results with "EventsDetail.do" are still included. This is the first link that shows up in the results.

Also, I am trying to hide pages that contain "MakeReservations.do" in the URL string. I try to do this by running the search as

http://api.search.live.net/xml.aspx?Appid=<AppID>&query=cher%20-MakeReservation.do(site%3Aparislasvegas.com)&sources=web

Same deal. The second link that shows up in the results is http://www.parislasvegas.com/MakeReservation.do?propCode=CLV&packageCode=ICC2M , so the filter is not working.

The plot thickens when I strip out all results with "propCode" in the URL string. If I run the search as http://api.search.live.net/xml.aspx?Appid=<AppId>&query=cher%20-propCode(site%3Aparislasvegas.com)&sources=web , the results are properly filtered. What is going on here?

Folks!!

Can you / anyone help? Am new to Live Search API (and perhaps development / web services) but I thought the MSN Documentation was pretty straightforward AND YET ... I'm stuck.

I thought I could use the BELOW soap call to get LOCAL to ILLINOIS news source results where query = 'a' and sources = 'news' and en-US market.

ALAS ... I get 10 news rows of national headlines - which suggests I'm making the API call incorrectly.

PLEASE HELP!

Hi, I am new to this forum and the live seardh api, so forgive me if this is stupid.

Here is my problem:
I would like get the web frequency for a serch term, but it seems to be the same without respect to Market.

Here are my requests:

I would like to be able to exclude everything that has "EventsDetail.do" and "MakeReservation.do" , in the URL, as the "EventsDetail.do" and "MakeReservation.do" do weird cross-URL things in our situation. I am currently doing some filtering on the client side, but this results in the count being off, and some other issues. Is there a way to exclude results when requesting?

Wrong or missing Date value with SourceType.News

the Date value is sometimes wrong with SourceType.News, e. g.

System.DateTime.Now.ToUniversalTime() = #4/24/2009 1:57:35 PM# Date

StoryTime = #4/24/2009 2:34:24 PM# Date

As you see the StoryTime is later than the actual time.

Sometimes the StoryTime is missing.

Moving From Live Search API 1.x to 2.0

Based on the documentation looks like we need to get a new APP Id to access 2.0 API

Will the 1.x API code continue to work with the 2.0 API?

Are there any breaking changes when we use API 2.0 (from 1.x)

Any other changes needed when moving from 1.x to 2.0?

I have third party software that calls to 1.1. I dont have a 1.1 api code and i can only generate a 2.0 code that doesnt work with this script. Would it be possible to make 2.0 codes valid when calling 1.1 for now until there is time for the third party to update their script? Thank you.

Need helping calling Live Search API from VS 2008

Hi,

(This may just be a beginner's problem or maybe it's something to do with VS 2008.)

I want to call the Live Search 2.0 API in a VS 2008 C# project. (My original project is Silverlight, but I'm having the same problem with WinForms). So, I signed up for an API key and then in my project I added a "Service References" to the web service.

That lets me see all kinds of interesting new types (e.g. Query, WebResponse) and it defines "SearchResponse1", but I don't see how I actually create (or access) the service.

In the SDK example, LiveSearchService seems to be defined in it's auto-generated Reference.cs. Then it does:

LiveSearchService service = new LiveSearchService()

I don't see LiveSearchService in my Reference.cs. I notice that the SDK is VS 2007, not 2008. Does that mater?

Limiting scope to a subdomain for Site Search

I am trying to narrow the scope of my search but I get an error if I try to use a site with a sub domain.

For example: "office site:microsoft.com" works but "office site:microsoft.com/mac" does not.

Here is a URL to show the problem:

Problems with Live JSON API in C#

I have the following Code, which works fine with the flickrUrl, but actually I don't want to access Flickr, but Live. When I change the url in the following line: "wc.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri(flickrUrl + SearchBox.Text));" VS2008 throws an error:

Hi. My name is Liem Luong. This is the first time i post the topic on this forum. I hope i can get help from here.

I am doing my research for my school senior project. The topic i am working on is Natural Language Processing.
I am using Live Search API. I am able to retrieve the search results from Live Search API and display them on my scrowviewer in WPF window.
The problem is:
   * Instead of display directly from the Live Search on the WPF windows, i want to store all of the results in one XML file.
   * Because i want to do some Natural Language Processing calculation to filter out the results in order to improve the accuracy.
       * Delete the bad results and rerank the oder of the results.
   * Finally, i will display the final results (from the XML file) on to the WPF windows.

I have search online alot. I see many discussings about the ADO.NET, LING... I don't know which is the the best way to store the Live Search results in an XML format after user hit the search button and how to do it. Any suggestion would be help. I appreciate your helps.

I am brand new to this api, using JSON for my returns. I did a query, but the front page is full of links to the exact same page, with different variables in the URL. How can I clean this up?

2 questions:

1. Am I allowed to make the following proposition to users:

- "get XYZ for free in exchane for searching online via my search engine" (let's call it ABC search).

- If they go to Google (for example) they will get a banner that says "you can't use Google because you opted to receive XYZ, redirecting you to ABC search".

- The user will always be able to opt out of this at anytime, but will not longer be able to get XYZ for free.

2. What kind of revenue share is offered in the paid listings program (assume search volume greater than 100MM queries per month).

Site Search with Hundreds or Thousands of Urls?

Wondering if there is a way of having Live API search work by passing hundreds or thousands of website (URLs) to the (site:) parameter. I know most browsers are limited in GET length but what about using POST or any other technology available.

Another question if we could get around the length issues, would the Live API be able to handle such a request? We are interested in a possible "custom" Live API solution for this project if possible.

Excluding portions of a page in site search results

I have a website that is indexed by the major search engines with good results. I am also utilizing live search as my local site search provider (using the "site:" filter in the search API).

For the local site search, I would like to be able to fine-tune the results to ignore text that appears in the site menus on some pages. Is there a way to classify search results in such a way? Alternatively, is there a way of ignoring certain markup in a page (menus) as the site is crawled?
