Where are 404 links coming from

Where are the URLs coming from that are added to the Crawl Issues Tool under 404's. Some have not been on my site in over a year so I know they are not from my sitemap. Also checked all other pages for orphaned links. None found. The only thing I can figure is you are finding them somewhere else out on the web. It would be nice to know if that is the why the are showing up and even better if I knew where you found them.

It would be nice to have a page where we would submit a URL and then view a list of URLs with the code line number where the broken link has been found.

Example..

It seems like a simple tool to make and it would be very useful.

Can't Find my Products listed in MSN search

I am not getting any of my product listed on MSN. The only page I am getting listed is my front page. I have a sitemap, products list and all that good stuff. But the only page I can find is my Home page. WHY ????

BUG: double quotes in CSV file

If you export data with double quotes in to CSV, double quotes are not properly "escaped". For example, many page titles have double quotes, so when exporting the backlinks, many of the rows won't load when I open the file in OpenOffice Calc. In Excel I think all the rows load but many double quotes are missing.

I believe all double quotes should be escaped by putting them twice - at least, that's what Wikipedia says!

So if there is a page title:
Here is "my" page
The current export gives this:
"Here is "my" page","http://www.example.com", ...
But it should do this:
"Here is ""my"" page","http://www.example.com", ...

I hope you can get this fixed soon. Thanks for a great service!

Need ability to submit multiple site maps pers site

Using content management systems that support hosting multiple sites in a single installation it is cumbersome to use robots.txt.
Even within a single site we have multiple feature specific site maps, google allows up to submit all of them.
So for example the main site map is siteroot/SiteMap.ashx but the blog feature also generates a site maps for blog posts at siteroot/Blog/BlogSiteMap.ashx

Am I missing something? Is there a way I can submit multiple site maps for a single site using WebMaster tools?
If not I really think you should add it as it as a feature, it is possible with google.

A tool to remove malware from an infected page would be helfpul. The webmaster center fall update says:

"With the updated tools in Webmaster Center, if you have any malware issues on either your own pages or on outbound links, you will be able to:

Read helpful advice in Help on how to fix the problem.
..."

Unfortunately, that's not the case. The help section doesn't tell advice on how to fix the problem.

I would like to be able to select specific URL's from my site/domain to be deleted from the index while within the Webmaster Center. A simple Delete button would work that would mark this item for deletion and send my information and the URL information to the system that resolves these issues.

I have had a heck of a time removing old information from LIVE. We have totally redone our website using DNN CMS now while before we were using static HTML. It would just be simpler and more like the other Search Engines to be able to make these requests from ONE spot- not having to trapse all over the web to make these requests.

Hey, i have a question/suggestion. I am not sure if its possible or not or maybe i just dont know how....
Is there a way to know how msn tools reads sitemaps.

It MSN doesnt provide any info on how they read sitemap. (or maybe i just dont know, if thats the case than sorry)
Did it find any errors or how many links does it see in the sitemap.

We have updated sitemap for our www.WorldsMostUnique.com website quite a few times. At first we had some issues of how to set up our site map. Google found those problems right away and MSN well, i am not sure what version of sitemap does msn see and when was it last updated.

All i am trying to say that it would be nicer to show more info on sitemaps...

I have a site that sells toner products. I started in 2004. My site gets listed on free search on all the other major search engines out there. My site is http://www.tonerr.com . In the Live Search Webmaster Center, it shows all my pages with good scores, but I still am not listed for my chosen keywords, one being "toner". Can someone please help?

Show the keywords with which site is ranking set the crawl speed and other functions just lik google .. there might additional innovative tool which can show webmasters the geo stats of their visitors, well i think it can be done easily through tracker which can help both msn and webmasters to get the data what is the ongoing changes in the users taste which site is doing well etc///... still i think there are large possbilities of changes in live . i would love it to provide some more additonal data along with results.

But the main feature what i am looking for is the " keyword ranking report " for website

In future releases, would it be possible to manipulate the list of backlinks by "Link Found Date"? I am not really looking to filter out results, but the ability to new links first or last. This is easy enough to do by downloading the CSV file and opening it in Excel. But it would be so much easier and faster to just manipulate the view on a browser. Thanks,

Backlinks should support more than one filter

It would be useful in the Backlinks section to be able to filter out more than one domain.

Right now the filter works fine for one domain, but if you try to add a second domain (separated by comma, or simply by a space), the filter fails to work at all - it will not exclude either of the domain names specified.

Possible Issue regarding the Keywords tool.

When I use the Keywords tool to see how my website (draydesign.com) does in the search for the keywords "Web Design Cobourg", I get the result "No data is available".

When I do a Live Search on the same keywords, my website home page and contact page turn up as #14 and #15 in the list of results.

Why doesn't the Keywords tool result correspond more closely to actual search results? Is this a bug or just my misinterpretation of what sort of result I should get from the tool?

Well I'm new here so it may have been already asked, but would it be possible to have the "Keyword" search come back and tell you were you rank on the engine? Not like "Your site is 1,293,485th place! Congrats!" but just like top 500 or however far you would want to go?
I think it would be great if so, that way we could see if say we change some things around and add more content that it is making an impact upon the search engine.

Also, I know you can't troubleshoot programs I use, however i have 3 different "Traffic~Watch" programs that show me I have traffic from:

www.search.live.com
Are you two different engines? Or my programs just getting a bit too technical?

Change SiteList Order to alphabetical by domain name

Personally, I would find it useful if the site list could be in alphabetical order by domain name, rather than in chronological order by date of verification. The latter is okay if you have a couple of websites, but I am a designer tracking many customer websites and presently my list is nearly 30 and growing. Alphabetical order would make things easier.

Delete domains from Live Search

It would be nice to have the opportunity to remove sites within our domain that are showing up in Live search. We have a few results that are potentially embarrasing to our company that are not linked to any more, from our site at least. In my particular example they are subdomains, like our test server and our image server, that just shouldn't show up.

My company has many sites (100+) each for a different country with a different top level domain (.fr, .de, .es, etc.) All sites share the same code and are hosted on the same servers although the content is of course unique per language and per market. In this case, it is difficult to put in place unique xml authentification files or unique meta tags per country. It would be far more convenient for people in my situation to be able to have a single authentification code for my account that can be used on all my sites. Since they share the same code and the same file strucutre, that requires just one file on my servers. This is how the GG webmaster tools operate, although Yahoo operates the same way as you do, requiring a unique code per domain.

I find the back links tool very confusing. It should be able to give you just the top domain of each website that links inn to my website.

I have a lot of websites that links from every site (wide linking)

Give it an option like “show only top domain”

That will only list each website once, and you will at least get 1000 unique websites in the result.
I know that would not give me the placement of the link, but to be honest, I don’t care about that…

It should also be a possibility to set the preferred url (www. and non .www) There are plenty of us that are using ASP.NET based on a IIS Windows server that don’t support the redirect 301 by the webhost.

Regarding the forum

Why don’t you give the users that really gives an effort to help other a bonus?

What about give hem the opportunity to have a url attached to the signature after they have given 10-20 good answers! That will inspire people with knowledge to stay in the forum.

Microsoft's "Live Search News" Does Not Accept News Publishers?

Google allows webmasters to submit their web sites for an inclusion in Google News. Unfortunately, there is no such feature offered by the Microsoft. We hardly get any hits from Microsoft's Live Search search engine, and there is hardly enough news sources offered by "Live Search News."

Why don't you follow Google's example and why don't you allow webmasters to submit their news sites into your Live Search News index?

My blog is hosted as a subsite, (http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blogs/LKuhn/) and when I tried to add the site to my account, I receved the following error message:

The site address isn't valid. Only one level of subdomain is supported.

Since this is the only area of the overall hierarchy of sites that I manage, this is the only part I can directly take action on if the Webmaster Tool was to find an issue. I can imagine that many other sites have a distributed webmaster/administration model like this, so I would expect this to be a fairly common need.
