Add Ins Not Showing in Available tab

I have tried everything I can think of, but even thought I have copied a couple of MSIs for Recorded TV Manager 3 into the \\whs\Software\Add-Ins directory and restarted my WHS connection AND restart the WHS, I still cannot see these Add Ins in the available tab.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Steve,

Try renaming the Recorded TV Manager MSI file to something else (like "recordedtvmanager.msi" or similar). WHS sometimes gets stuck reading properties out of the MSI package - renaming the file tends to force WHS to try again.

Didn't work. This is really frustrating because I have the WHS doing backups and all of that. Just no add ins. Could it be some kind of a permissions problem?

Not unless you've changed something :) Do other add-ins show up as expected?

Well, I was afraid to install other Add Ins since I read that it can be kind of a ____ to uninstall them. However, I did get the Windows Home Server Disk Management Add In to show up just fine, so that helps. I went ahead and RDP'd to the Home Computer and tried just running those Recorded TV Manager MSI files and got some error about "not the right OS" so perhaps I didn't download the right stuff.

Most of the uninstall issues for those add-ins you've been reading about have been solved in later versions - just make sure you download the latest one!

You don't want to install Add-Ins by double-clicking the MSI file from the desktop, that's where you will still run into uninstall issues :) There are multiple versions of Recorded TV Manager, and Recorded TV Manager 3 isn't the WHS add-in (that bit isn't free).
