I have had success installing the Connector on two computers:
1. 4 year old HP laptop with Windows Vista
2. Brand new Dell All-In-One with Windows 7 Home Premium
Now my issue is that I am not having success installing the connector on the other two computers:
1. 6 year old HP desktop with Windows XP Media Center Edition
2. few month old MacBook Pro with OSX Lion
On the Windows XP Media Center machine:
a. it locates the server
b. verify the prerequisites
c. I log on to my WHS, it continues
d. I go through a few more prompts and it get to the "Configuring Your Computer" screen. It says that it is "Connecting to the network". It gets about halfway up the progress bar and then jumps to the end, then it rolls back from 100% back to 0%. "The installation is cancelled" "The Windows Home Server 2011 Connector has encountered an unexpected error. Click Close to undo most of the changes..."
The MacBook can see the server over the network (in this case 192.168.1.227) which I can see through Safari at http://192.168.1.227/connect. At this page it prompts me to "Download Software for Mac". So I download it, open the PKG and try to install it. The installer makes it about halfway through and won't continue.
