I have the HP Home Server and it has worked fine for two months. Now when I click on the Home Server Icon next to the clock the login window opens. I put in my password and I'm getting a message "The Pre-Release Version of Remote Desktop Connection has expired. To download the full version of Remote Desktop Connection, Go to Windows update or  contact your system administrator". I dowloaded the remote desktop connection from Microsoft and tried to indstall it and it said that the full version is alread on my computer. I tried to re-install HP Home Server software and I still get the same message. Can someone help me?

Are you running XP SP3 Beta?

There is a long ongoing thread about this on the BBR Microsoft forum that you may be interested in...

I had the same problem... time limited version of RDC (from early release of  XP SP3, I think.) The information on the BBS is more or less correct: grab c:\windows\system32\mstsc.exe & mstscax.dll from the latest possible XP SP2 release. That was not enough, however. I had to replace the corresponding files in c:\windows\system32\en-us\... these are: mstsc.exe.mui & mstscax.dll.mui . Mine were dated Nov '06, taken from my wife's laptop & simply copied into place. I tried just the first two (system32) files & that did not work, then copied the similarly dated \en-us\ pair & all was fine. I suppose that the .mui files from a different language installation would be required to match whichever language is running on a particular machine. All are smaller than the SP3 versions. So look for somone with a well maintained XP SP2 machine.
