I can't get Power pack 1 to install.
I can't get Power pack 1 to install.
Been looking all over the web and I can't find how to install power pack 1 and if I could I guess power pack 2 would be installed. I have 3 PC's with Windows 7 now and like to get my Windows home server updated. I think it's version 2030 now. or this:
Windows Home Server Console: 6.0.2030.2
Windows Home Server Backup & Restore: 6.0.2030.0
Windows Home Server Drive Extender: 6.0.2030.0
Windows Home Server Remote Access: 6.0.2030.0
Windows Home Server Storage Manager: 6.0.2030.13Going to windows update it says it's all ready is updated.
I downloaded power pack 1 and when I ran "WHS-KB944289-v1-x86-ENU.exe" it says:
"Update does not apply to installed version"
What is wrong?

- If this is what shows up on your WHS, then you have Power Pack 2 and it's normal you can't install PP1, since it's already installed. 6.0.2030.0 is the latest version available. May be you want to look to install PP3 beta instead. If it is the case, you can get it on Microsoft Connect.

- Thank you Klode.
I did not think I had it because no were did I see it. Not even in removed programs list.
A lot of places I see in it "Windows Server 2003" but on the web see up to "Windows Server 2008 R2" That's why I was thinking it was not updated.
It's nice to know it is updated and I don't have to look any more.
I will wait till Power Pack 3 bata gets out of bata. But it's good to know it's close. I guess to make it work with Windows 7 better.
Thanks again.
Raymond Day - Hi Raymond,
Windows Home Server is based on a version of Windows Server 2003 and has nothing to do with Windows Server 2008 R2.
Power Packs are only upgrading Windows Home Server components, but not the OS core, which remains unchanged.

Olaf - That's very good to know. So Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 R2 is like Windows XP to Windows 7 right. Then do they have a upgrade disk for Windows Server 2003. Like they do for Window 7?
Raymond Day - No there is currently no newer version of Windows Home Server available (was just released two years ago), and since WHS is in concept an OEM only product sold with hardware it is not to assume, that there will be an upgrade path to the next version, once it is released.

Olaf - But can download a "180-Day Evalutaion of Windows Server 2008 R2" with the file name of "7600.16385.090713-1255_x64fre_server_eval_en-us-GRMSXEVAL_EN_DVD.iso" It that the same as Windows Server 2003 then?

No, Server 2008 R2 is not the same as Server 2003. They are 2 versions apart (with Server 2008 in between the 2).
