Force WHS to verify files in drive pool?

I saw something about file conflicts and PP1, but this happened long after I installed PP1, so I doubt it has anything to do with it. I could be wrong, though.

The problem I'm having is that WHS says there's file conflicts, specifically certain files missing. When i try to access them through SMB over the network, they won't open (appear, for all intents and purposes, to be nonexistant). But when I open them locally, through remote desktop from their respective C:\fs\Drive locations, they work just fine.

Is there a way to make WHS realize that the files are in fact where they should be and start working properly again? Can I manually update their location data somewhere for that?

No, there is no way to force it to check (short of Server Reinstallation).  However, if you have the data in the hidden DE folders, I would just move it to the server desktop, then move it back to the share (using the UNC path) where it was originally.  It should just overwrite the tombstone and put the file on a secondary drive automatically.

That sucks. Mabye in the future they'll have a feature like that.

Your "copyit to the desktop, then back in" idea is brilliant, but doesn't work. I get some error message about a missing device. However, if I copy it over the UNC path to another folder (like from "Movies" to "Movies2"), it works perfectly. I'm doing that to all the affected files right now.

    Thank you!

In that case, you probably have broken reparse points.  You might try using a tool created by another WHS forum user, catsaver.  He created a tool that should elminate the broken reparse points, called Windows Home Server Cleanup Tool.

That did it. The program identified the files with bad reparse points, I copied them from their C:\fs locations into temp folders, the cmd program ran its course and deleted the bad files and points, and then I just moved the files back into their correct locations.

    Thanks for all the help!
