Hi, Can anyone help, I would like to set my WHS to automatically login a basic user on server startup, this is so that I can have my Magic Jack running all the time. Can this be done?
Currently each time the server restarts (as a result of windows updates) I need to login manually, but if I don't notice the Magic Jack ends up not running for days.

    Hi,

You can find more information on autologon here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/324737 or you could use the tool from SysInternals: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963905.aspx

However it is not recommended to autologon (security).
Maybe contact the publishers of Magic Jack to see if it can be run as a service, so that autologon isn't needed.

    Hi Nick,

Many thanks, the autologon works a treat.

I did think of running Magic Jack as a service but it doesn't allow you to see who's calling and as there are a lot of cold calling services in the USA I really like to see who I'm about to talk to...

I have created a really basic acount with limited permissions to lessen the security risk a bit, but as the server is only accessible to my wife and me within the home it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

    thanks again.
