WHS with U-verse 2Wire 300HGV-B
- Has anyone had a succeful installation of WHS with U-verse 2Wire 3800HGV-B (RG). My WHS worked great until my new service was installed. The main WHS set up problem is that since the wireless router (2Wire 3800HGV-B) does not support UPnP, and because I receceived the following messages:Unable to verify that router is accepting Web site connectionsUnable to verify that router is accepting Remote Access connectiondVerifty forwarding port.Microsoft recommended the following:
You may need to add services from your broadband provider to use the Remote Access features in Windows Home Server. For example, you need certain TCP “ports” to be open to use these features. Some broadband providers block certain ports for customers on some service plans. Also, some broadband providers’ terms of service may limit or prohibit setting up and running “servers” on their networks by some customers on some service plans. Ensure that your use of Windows Home Server features follows your broadband providers’ terms of service. Please contact your broadband provider if you have questions about their terms of service.
The following TCP ports need to be forwarded from your router to Windows Home Server to enable the Remote Access features in Windows Home Server:
Service or Protocol PortHTTP
TCP 80
HTTPS
TCP 443
Remote Desktop Proxy
TCP 4125
- HTTP is the protocol that your Web browser uses to view Web pages. You use this protocol to view your default Web page for Windows Home Server.
- HTTPS is the protocol that your Web browser uses to view secure Web pages. You use this protocol to view your Remote Access Web page for Windows Home Server.
- Remote Desktop Proxy is the service that is used to connect to your home computers via the Remote Access
CAN I MAKE THESE CHANGES TO THE WIRELESS ROUTER??????
Also has anyone used the Router behind Router setup!!!!!!!
Thanks

Yes, I have ATT/Uverse since late February 08, and I have WHS running, and I have the router behind a router set up. My set up is fairly simple, meaning I dont have any advanced settings, or filters. I do have the upnp enabled. My network skills are beginner level.
I did find a Uverseusers.com forum, and there are several threads on this topic.
-
I have all of our computers and WHS connected to our Dlink router.
-
I have my STB's connected to the RG.
-
I changed my routers IP address from the default 192.168.1.1. Change the 3rd node to a 2.
-
I still have DHCP enabled.
-
I do not believe I changed the subnet mask on my router.
-
I have my routers wan port connected to an open lan port on the RG.
-
The RG recognized when I connected my router, and it set up the RG port as DMZ enabled.
-
I turned off the RG's wireless, and use my routers wireless. This was the only change I made to the RG.
-
In WHS, I think I did an unconfigure and reconfigure in the settings/remote access, and everything was running after this.
Good luck. If this doesnt work, check the uverse forum. I might have forgotten a step.

So I did this, and remote works great.... But now I have THIS issuie...
I recently had uVerse installed and for the life of me could not get things related to remote access working. I did NOT want waste a piece of equipment for router behind a router configuration so I searched the web and finally found the answer.
I orignally had my WHS box set to a static IP, created rules in the uVerse gateway, created the port forwards, and nothing would work. But when I performed the following steps as outlined at this webpage EVERYTHING worked immediately.
If you have uVerse and are want to use the RG and thats it, try this site:

I tried the above steps for my ATT U-Verse 2 Wire Gateway. I set it up just like the article says and I still can not get my xxxx.homeserver.com webpage to work. When I ask the WHS to show the status of the web access it says that the status is :working, shows the name, service provider and my correct external IP address. It shows green check marks next to all the verifying / updating but this still does not work? Any other guesses ?
