Anytime you sign up for a beta you are often told not to use it on your main machine for risk of something going wrong and hosing the machine.

This is quite the opposite, we are encouraged to use this beta on all of our main machines, as it exists solely to interact with other computers (and how many spares can you have haha).

Is there any concerns with the stability of the Connect software that will be installed on our main machines?  Just a thought.  I assume this is why it isn't going to be an open beta and why it wasn't shared until Beta 2.

I would say you are correct about the general caveats about beta software and they do still apply with WHS. This being said, the portion of WHS on your PC (aka the Connector) has been in testing for quite a while and is generally stable. I have had no issues with it affecting any of my 5 desktops.

So yes, you are taking a risk, but no I don't believe you are likely at all to damage any of your desktops just by having the connector installed.

In my point of view, you should NEVER rely on only ONE backup feature : whether WHS is in beta stage or not, an HDD crash could still appends.

But it is true that since WHS is in beta stage, you shouldn't rely on it too much (still, if your main HDD where crash, you will be MORE than happy to find you data backed up with WHS   ;) )

    Thanks for the reply :)

I really hope I get the opportunity to help test and shape this potentially wonderful product.

Off topic where did you get your name from Atom? AtomSK sounds really familiar in my head from somewhere.

Man, it's gonna drive me nuts lol.  It had to be from another forum or something.  No big deal really, I just remember the handle.
