Locked Catastrophic System failure recovery

    My WHS 2011 has failed catastrophically, both system drives including the boot and data drive are gone, the motherboard is gone.

    Fortunately I have another system I can reload to, unfortunately the system is a completely different make (AMD instead of intel) and model, the replacement boot hdd is smaller than the original boot drive, but the data drive is larger.

    Since I cannot restore a backup to a smaller HDD I have clean installed Windows HS 2011, reconfigured the services I wanted running and am now reloading my usb backup of client machines.

    Is it is possible to re associate those backups with the existing clients? I wish to do this not because any of them have failed, but because I wish to be able to keep the incremental backup sets intact to allow for potentially deleted or corrupted file recovery at a later date.
