Answered How to remove a workstation node from the head node

I had to reformat the hard drive of a workstation node and forgot to remove it from the head node before doing this.  All of the powershell commands I try fail with errors such as cannot take a workstation offline with an automatic availability policy (or something similar).  Is there some way to delete a no longer existing node forcibly (manually) from a head node?

After endless trial and error and copious amounts of profanity I figured out how to do this.  Create a second Workstation template with startup policy set to manual.  Assign the new template to the workstation node.  Now take that node offline, then delete it.
